I guess I'll cheer for Sir Lewis Hamilton then. Is he any good?

Damon Hill and Jenson Button had some advice for George Russell.
Damon:
Jenson:
If Alonso had been walking by and overheard the interviews I would imagine he would say "where the frick were you guys
with your advice in 2007?".
Damon:
quote:
“I think it will be great to watch,” Hill told Express Sport of the partnership. “I’m sure Lewis will be wanting to encourage George. I don’t see it going wrong.
“I think Lewis recognises his timespan is shorter in the sport than George’s, so he will want to play his part in giving him a leg-up – not that he needs one, probably.
“It’s down to George and how he approaches it, I think. You can go into these situations and think ‘right, that’s the enemy over there and I’m out to knock spots off them’.
“That might not be the wisest thing to do with Lewis, I don’t think.
“That’s something to really look forward to next year. I’ll be as excited as anyone to see what will happen.”
Jenson:
quote:
“He’s got to not put pressure on himself. He can’t think ‘I’ll get in the car and be quicker than Lewis on day one’,” said Button.
“He’s got to build up to it, otherwise he will shoot himself in the foot. You can’t be too confident alongside Lewis.”

quote:when i first got into f1 i went on youtube and subscribed to their channel. you can go back and watch race highlights, team interviews, etc. it realt helped learn the sport and the drivers and how they typically finish. The driver radios are fun to listen to also.
I think I'm going to start watching/following Formula 1 in 2022. Which team should I follow/pull for?
Most of the drivers are very likeable so you cant really go wrong choosing a driver/team to follow. McLaren is the popular choice right now because of Lando and Danny, both young extroverted drivers.

This. I also like the team of LeClerc and Sainz. Can't say why. They just both seem like likeable guys.

I like Carlos a lot. He’s underrated as a driver too.

You have to start with Hass, work your way up to Williams and then go from there.

Man F1 gotta be growing in popularity. This thread is already bigger than the NASCAR threads. Cannot wait for 2022
There's gotta be millions of new F1 fans in America after this season, probably the most gripping and exciting season in 15 years. The final race was absolute must-see TV and it delivered beyond anyone's wildest expectations.
Also, forza George Russell.

With the new regulations and reading about what Ferrari has done with their engines, I can see the range of outcomes being Brawn 2009 level to looking like they did in 2020, and anywhere in between.
I am really hoping that the Scuderia and McLaren are able to join the upper tier with Mercedes and Red Bull next year, which would make for an incredible season.

Looks like Todt is probably going to be some sort of "special advisor" to Ferrari at this point.
So, Ferrari is going to have some special in insight to what the other teams have asked for in regards to the 2022 regulations.

Someone said it is the payoff for whatever they found in 2019.

I hope we hire Ross Brawn and Pat Symonds at the end of the '22 season.

More like the most Ferrari move ever
Ferrari freaking owns F1 and will continue to do so as long as they want... and I dont hate it, but I dont like it either
Between the legacy payouts, veto and the amount of people they have connections with, it's their racing series and everybody else is secondary

I have no shame. Plus, Ross Brawn is one if not THE genius in F1 over the last couple of decades. If you go back to 2000 he either participated directly or set up the team* that won 16 of the WCCs in the time period.
* he brought in every major player in the technical department that built the Mercedes W04 chassis and Mercedes FO 108F engine that started the whole dominant era. Toto walked into an incredible team.

Nor should you!
I admire the way the Italians get around the rules.
