lone wolf sit and climb
With the sit and climb, how much can you account for the tree taper before climbing? Do you need to adjust on the way up or do you feel it limits how high you can get? I've been told that the horizontal cross bar against the tree keeps you from setting the platform with as much of an upward angle as a Summit, which limits your height with your initial setting (unless the tree has very little taper). Otherwise I've been intrigued by the sit and climb.

I don't use sticks much anymore, but go to the Genesis 3D Printing website. They have components you can attach to the molle loops on your saddle that will help you manage your sticks. Otherwise, it's straps.

I think a high end lock on is better suited for bow hunting and you have the ability to take more shots with less movement.
trust me, its not
the saddle allows for full 360 degree shots and often times I can keep the tree between me and the deer
I made the switch to a saddle this year and absolutely love it
currently running 3 Shikar 22" sticks with a single step aider and can get to 18-20' pretty easy, but seriously considering switching to 1 stick next year
for where and how I hunt, the saddle is just the best method for me and has opened up areas that I could only hunt from the ground in previous years

I probably need to get more comfortable with it. I shot around 75 times out of one from multiple angles and it took a lot of movement for me to switch to different shots. It was surprisingly comfortable.

I'm honestly trying to figure out how, or at least how moreso than a lock on
a deer comes behind you in a lock on, you are still needing to turn around and possibly lean around the tree
a deer comes on your weak side in a saddle, you are still going to need to turn around
just with a saddle, most of your strong side or front shots, you are going to have the tree to provide cover for you

I try to set my lock on where I have the tree providing some cover.
With the saddle the "rolling" motion to switch from side to side is quicker than slowly rotating on a stand but just felt awkward and like i'd get busted

well that is kinda on you, no?
I've definitely seen some people say that can't saddle hunt because of the fidget factor (swinging side to side, standing up and down constantly, etc), so a saddle definitely isn't for everyone
but it definitely opens up more shooting angles, mobility, and access to more trees
trees with multiple trunks are the GOAT saddle trees

Probably. Not meaning to knock the saddle at all. If it works for you, hell yeah. I can see the value of keeping it in my toolbox and will be buying one for next season but it won't be my go to. I could have used one quite a bit when I was in Missouri this year.

One of my sons tried it and sold most of his lock-ons because he liked it so much.

I just put some 550 cord loops on the saddle and hung the sticks from there for a while. It works but now I just set the first stick, then hang the sticks on that one by their versalinks. I pull them up one at a time, set one, and pull the other up. Rinse and repeat.
I find that to be quieter and it’s quicker for me.

Hunt public land here in Missouri when I can’t get home to hunt North La. it’s a game changer. Started out with a guido and loved it. I bought the JX3 this year . Guy bought out Guido and made some real improvements . You can chaeck it out on line. It’s carried like a backpack and I have the hawk helium steps. It’s not cheap but I’ve never sat in a more comfortable stand. Safe and not hard to get used to. It’s not as light as some of the traditional saddles but I’m 60 and like the comfort. I’m 6’1” and 215 . My brothers and nephews still use the guido , which you can’t get néw any longer obviously. I love that I can move around and hunt hot sign and food sources. They just upped the price . You can get a military discount if you email John the owner. He is very responsive.

The Overwatch Transformer looks legit! MADE IN THE USA too.
I like the two panel saddles. Treehopper Recon, Overwatch Transformer, ESS (China would not buy), Tactisaddle.

That's why i tried it out and like this new Dryad Drey saddle.
I started taking too much crap in the woods, and leaving the platform behind or in a tree was great.

I started using a saddle this year. I hunt public land only. Have a Cruzr XC and run 4 beast stick minis with a 1 step fixed amsteel aider on each. Added the Tethrd Versalinks and have a Tethrd predator platform. I haven’t weighed the whole set up but toting it 2 miles in is not bad at all.
I can be at 22’ with that setup in less than 10 minutes for the most part.
I absolutely love it. A 3-4 hour sit is very comfortable as long as you have knee pads or a pad for your knees. What I like most about it is the way it’s changed how I hunt. Scouting your way into an area, slowly, and then picking out a tree to hunt is much easier with the saddle than having a stand on your back
It’s probably not for everyone. But for me, I’ll probably never go back to a climber or lock on

First year, tethrd. Loved it. Every minute. If you adjust it right, it’s super comfortable. Definitely will invest in either a pad to strap to the tree or knee pads. That’s my only gripe.
I love that I have freedom to move to basically any tree in a fairly short time.

I bought the two accessory loops for My tethrd. I have two carabiners in them. Take the loop for the straps on my sticks and clip the the carabiner. When I get up, just reach back and unclip the next stick. Same thing on the way down
I have my platform in a long rope that I clip to my pack and leave on the ground on the way up. Once I’m up, I just pull it up and attach to the tree.

Lightweight when you have to backpack your stuff to a tree. Get the right sized one and you’ll be just as comfortable if not more than a tree stand.

My buddies set up I'm using includes a heavy S hook attached to a 30' cord. I can leave everything on the ground (pack, bow, platform). Set sticks going up then once at top, drop S hook and pull up each item as needed. Thought it was a good idea.

100% public land the last 2 years and use the tethrd phantom/predator platform. I carry one hawk helium stick with aider and can get as high as I want. I rappel down after the hunt(it’s actually really fun rappelling out of the tree). Weight saving has been the biggest plus for me. The other big plus is that the deer don’t seem to notice you in the saddle. Sometimes you just can’t find enough cover especially later in the year. In a climber those deer would consistently pick me off but not in a saddle.

Would it work with hip boots?
