Looks like there are no rules, just money.
And there are no contracts with the team, under the new NIL regime, and tampering is rampant.
For those who think LSU has unlimited resources, consider the following:
Texas has a state GDP of $1800 billion annually.
Louisiana is about 240 billion.
California is nearly twice Texas’, and Texas and Calif.’s economies are growing faster than ours.
If it comes down to a money game, we may not be in the top ten.

GDP has nothing to do with it. Texas A&M has a ton of big money donors and they got on the NIL train before we did. LSU boosters will figure out a way to get players money. Last thing I’m worried about.

It's called adapt or die. LSU makes enough and has enough big donors to stay top 5. We don't have Texas or TAMU money but if that was the only thing that mattered TAMU would've bought a championship this past century.

We've been doing it for decades. Players have always gotten paid. You think they came to lsu for free when bama and the like offered big $?

Well we’ve been competing with money for recruits for a couple decades now. Maybe with all of the instability going on the last few years, we maybe lost some avenues in that regard. They’ll have it figured out by next year

The truth is LSU doesn’t have near the boosters of some of our rivals.

There are rules
For one:Coaches can’t promise any money

Otherwise, the Nil market is going to be exposed this upcoming year. Players are going to know whether a school can provide national or regional money or both. On the surface, it appears that LSU will be only a regional market but maybe there’s national potential. Not sure how tho.

There’s also the illegal payments that will be made. Just because NIL exists, does not mean that money won’t be paid under the table.

LSU consistently has one of the 4 or 5 highest paid coaches in football

The highest allotment of salary given to assistants

One of the highest grossing college football teams in America

So yes. Stop with this shite already

Sometimes I wonder how some of the posters here could even get into LSU.

Look, the truth is we've been destroying all Texas and California schools in the money game with both Orgeron and Miles. If those two guys can figure out how to do it when it's illegal, we will separate further now that it is legal and we have CBK. We've just been hurt a little in recruiting this year, since we don't have any coordinators yet.

What is the GDP of Alabama?

I said it a long time the game is ruined forever! It’s sad how so many are JUST realizing it.

I just wished I were dead when this would have happened. It’s depressing

NIL doesn’t mean schools can pay players, so what are you people talking about?

Comparing money donated and raised by alumni ? A&M is tops in the country, they even raise more money than Texas.

Here's a crazy A&M financial statistic. From 2012 to 2021 (9 years), former students, alumni, corporations, and anonymous givers donated $4.25 BILLION to the A&M higher education campaign. Since joining the SEC and Manziel winning the Heisman, no telling how much money was donated specifically for the sports programs.

FWIW, The Louisiana State University System had an endowment of $955 million in 2020.

NIL isn't going to look the same in a couple years. Schools will corroborate to setup guidelines and level the playing field somewhat. It won't become schools buying championships but it's going to be important and schools will need to adapt. It won't be 100% about money even though money will be part of it. We're in NIL infancy, expect it to change a lot.
