Tavion Faulk or Matthew O'Dowd

I'll preface this by saying I have a hard time with the idea that Nussmaier would refuse to play the bowl game unless he gets his redshirt waiver. That makes no sense to me. If you get an opportunity to start the bowl game and you show out, you go into the spring as the starting quarterback and Brennan then has to beat YOU out, and he's rusty as hell.
And if you're the starter as a 2nd year sophomore, what the hell do you need a 5th year for?
To me, the only purpose for insisting on that redshirt year is if you're thinking you're going into the portal and you want the maximum eligibility to make yourself marketable. And that tells me we ought to plan on replacing him over the summer with somebody.
Or maybe he gets a waiver and starts the bowl game and none of this matters.
Anyway, I found some HUDL film on the two walkon QB's who will get most or all of the snaps if Nuss doesn't play. It isn't as terrible as I expected, but honestly I'm surprised to read more about Faulk as an option than O'Dowd.
Here's Faulk. He looks like - I'm not sure what he looks like. A poor man's Tony Rice? Maybe a Teddy Bridgewater at Miami? He can run some, though he doesn't have blazing speed. The arm's pretty accurate but honestly it isn't strong at all. They did move the ball a ton at Carencro when he was there, though, so maybe he's a good game manager.
Faulk senior film
I'm not sure what the deal is on O'Dowd. His senior year film is apparently only six quarters, but his junior film is 10 minutes and it's really pretty good. He's got a quick release and he puts a ton of zip on the ball.

Start O'Dowd and let Faulk play a wildcat at certain times during the game.

Is Kirklin still considered a possible option at QB, along with these two?

With Brennan back Nuss better be begging to play because this could be his last shot.

this is not a close call if that is the best highlights for Faulk.

Should just see if clark can play QB. Play both ways like you do in high school. Would make for a hell of a story

Add to this: He would still have his redshirt year to use later. There is no way to predict the future. He could have an injury. He could not get any playing time in a different season and want to redshirt then.
Myles Brennan redshirted his sophomore year.
I agree. It's a stupid debate.
It is smart of LSU to seek a waiver. Hopefully the NCAA does the right thing.

Neither !!!
Nuss must sacrifice his red shirt for the team to win this bowl cause we need the recruits to sign on in February

These two things aren't related.

Not sure what the deal is with O'Dowd as a SR but based on hightlights from a pure QB standpoint its not even close he should get the nod.
I think we could possibly try to ease him in by using Jontre in some wildcat formations. I know in past seasons he has been an option for emergencies

If I’m Nuss, even as the clear backup next year I’m feeling good about playing a good bit behind Brennan. He takes big hits and is very injury prone. Kelly loves to play multiple QBs also and he certainly gives us more mobility than Brennan.

I don’t understand why people think Nuss is holding out to keep his redshirt. LSU is giving him most of the reps for the bowl practices. LSU is also doing the right thing by petitioning the to keep his redshirt. I predict Nuss plays whether he gets a waiver or not.
