It's about the lifestyle, not the music. Parrotheads put on their Hawaiian shirts, drink fruity drinks, listen to Jimmy Buffett sing off key and pretend they're cruising around down in the Islands. Deadheads put on their tie dye, get baked, listen to the Dead noodle around on their instruments and pretend they're back in Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love.

Deadheads having heart attacks with this thread. The truth is that GD were a group of great musicians who put together mostly boring music. They do have a few great songs, but the rest is simply boring, uninspired drivel

I never got the dead, but I again, I was never in to psychedelic (or any other type of) drugs either.
The same thing happed with rave music in the 1990's.
