Hot Take: Frank Wilson is an uninspiring retread

Note to Alabamians: Title says retread. That is NOT the same as the "r-word." For more context, please see "Merriam Webster's Dictionary" (a type of book that tells you the meaning of words).
Wilson was a great recruiter at LSU, but shady AF. Don't get me wrong, shady used to be a good thing. But now? Not so much given the new NIL ruling. Shady won't get you far since most of the under-the-table sht is above board now.
Hell, even BYU is out there openly paying players. They had arguably the first "ethically questionable" NIL deal out there. Now, will Wilson help with recruiting? Yeah. But he's not a game-changer, and certainly not worth an AHC title.
But can Wilson at least coach? Uh, nope. He inherited a fairly new but stable/solid UTSA program. His first 2 years were average. They hit .500 and made one bowl game. In Wilson's second season, they even beat Matt Rhule's Baylor team despite hardly scoring.
But here's the thing. UTSA was all defense. In fact, they were kind of elite. But despite having an offensive-minded HC in Wilson, the UTSA O was dreadful.
I should also mention that UTSA's DC in Wilson's first 2 seasons was a rookie no-name coordinator named Pete Golding. He was essentially the only reason they were competitive. Then Pete got the offer to become Bama's co-DC and once he left, UTSA went straight down the crapper.
Wilson went through 3 OCs in his final 3 years. In Frank's final season, they beat FCS Incarnate Word, barely beat a dreadful Rice team at home, and their other 2 wins were against ODU (by 1 point) and UTEP (by 10 points) who were a combined 0-16 in C-USA play.
After UTSA finally fired Wilson, he somehow fell azz backwards into the McNeese job where he proceeded to use his press conference as a soap box to bitch about how unfair it was that UTSA fired him.
The guy who replaced Wilson has managed to win more games in his first 2 years than Wilson did in 4. Wilson, meanwhile, guided McNeese State to its first losing season in 15 years. Followed another losing season.
This is not some grandslam hire. This is a coach who was on his way out at McNeese. His reputation has taken a hit and he is in no way worthy of the AHC title.
Now, if you AGREE with my assessment, give me a big thumbs DOWN.

So you’re saying he did this with talent that Wilson recruited?

So, a few things with this:
1. Check who all he put in the league while at LSU
2. Do you really think being the head coach at Mcneese is easy or anything like being the running backs coach at LSU?

Literally nobody GAF about his time as a head coach. It’s irrelevant to his role here.

Stop trying to have a hot take.

His only job will be recruiting most likely. How is that not a grand slam?

Actually not hot at all.
You think you don't need good recruiters in the age of NIL?
That's moronic.

Wait this is probably the most important key to LSU, when I tell you the best running back coach I’ve had on all levels, I’ll be back in Death Valley more………

You’re overthinking it dude. The HS coaches in LA love him and they have a lot of influence on prospects & their parents

Wrong and "associate head coach" means literally nothing.

Do you know the difference between a position coach and a guy running the program? Because you clearly don't, the rest of your post isn't even worth discussing.
Oh, except this part

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Do you even know who the associate head coach was the last decade at LSU?
Posted on 12/7/21 at 7:07 pm to KevinSteeleFan
Just because you are not a good head coach, doesn't mean you are a bad coach
Posted on 12/7/21 at 7:08 pm to KevinSteeleFan
Good thing we aren't hiring him to be the HC then.
We need Frank to do what Frank does best and that's help us put the fence up period. I could care less what position he coaches. If he can help LSU stay in the top 5 recruiting classes year-in and year-out then he is worth every penny.

To shorten this up you could have just said Frank Wilson is nothing more than a glorified bag man.

I addressed it. IMO his recruiting isn't going to be as effective as it was previously.
There were better options to go for as an AHC whose primary role is essentially to recruit.
Wilson as just positions coach? Fine. But Wilson with that AHC title is a waste. That title has value despite it being somewhat meaningless on the field.

How the frick do people like you function on a day to day basis

This is worst than all the "done deal" posts a few weeks ago. This is trash. This is terrible. You are dumb. Wow. Terrible take. This is as bad as Charles Berkley 2014 golf swing. This is as ugly as elephant man. You must be the assistant to the regional manager bad. Holy cow shite.
