It’s going to be the end of what we grew up enjoying about college football. It’s going to simply be a corporate NFL farm league with players flocking to the highest bidder.

My question is how many kids that contribute nothing are going to get paid and for how long? Seems like a massive waste of money at a point.

The money was always there and Texas still sucks. The only difference is it can be public now.

I am truly amazed at the level of complete lack of awareness of fans of this program that care enough to read and post on this forum and their ignorance as it relates to player compensation

The going rate of being an SEC starter hasn't really changed in years

Tax liabilities and benefits have

You're incredibly naive if you think recruits weren't bought before NIL. All this did was remove the curtain, it was always the worst kept secret anyway. Texas has had highly rated recruiting classes for a while and look what that's done for them. I don't understand all the doom and gloom reactions to this.

I said it as well as others the day the law changed was the day College Athletics ended. It's a very sad time for the great fans and a very happy day for the entitled pussies who don the uniforms.

Worse thing ever to hit amateur sports. Don't forget to pay the clarinet player and Bertha in the cafeteria.

The camel has officially put his nose under the tent. But I'm sure the new little millionaires will repay the university and their fans for footing the bill so they can display their talents on the world stage at university facilities.

The NCAA either needs to drop pretenses entirely or step in when shite like this happens.

Like I’ve said slapping a NIL label in a suitcase of money doesn’t mean it’s NIL money.

Yeah it's going to get absurd. Quickly. I guess it already has considering Ohio State got a QB for 1.4 million dollars. People are saying nothing has changed and everything is now out in the open but do you really believe that players were getting a million dollars before? 200k and a car sure but 1.4 million?

These desperate schools with deep pockets will now be able to offer life changing amounts of money to players and their families who can't afford to turn them down. With no salary cap it's going to get crazy. Instead of the haves and the have nots, it's going to be the have it all, have some, and the have nothings.

This stuff was happening already. When it was behind the scenes, I suspect that alot of kids and their families got burned by empty promises. I do think it will get out of hand with public bidding. But, you either get with it or you get left behind. It will end up being a super conference that has all of the big boosters then everybody else.

Of course it is. The writing was on the wall once you start handing out money (paying players to play).

My gut feeling: The reason they are paying the O-line 50K is because Texas expects to get Manning

One issue will be the divisions in the locker room. A small percentage of players will make anything of substance, and now for the first time, all their teammates will know exactly what that figure is.

I understand that the best players have always been paid, but it’s the exact reason you don’t go to work and talk about what you’re paid yearly around folks you know aren’t making as much.

The transfer portal is only going to become crazier
