A dog according to Count 14 of the indictment. Sexual contact and videoing it or possessing photos/video images of it.

Ard recommended Perkins for his job. Good job recommending a rapist.

Honestly, i think this girl is getting screwed over big time. She definitely deserves jail time but life? This was the only incident she was proven to be involved with and she will get the same exact sentence as Perkins even with all the horrible other crap he’s done on top of this. The most he can get is life. Think she committed oral on the girl. Life in prison is a harsh sentence for that. Especially not having any other prior criminal history. And no doubt he was behind it all.

I read an article the other day, guy beat a girl to death with a bat and burned her body up after. Only got 17 years. And that was the 2nd person he killed in his life. And this girls getting life for licking adult poon? Men who rape kids get way less time.

She was offered a plea deal and I'm sure it would have been less than/around 20 years. She didn't take it.

Also, curiously, she tried to mount a defense saying she was intoxicated but she didn't testify. I understand that opening yourself up to cross is scary, but at the same time, it's going to be extremely difficult to make a jury understand your inability to form coherent thoughts without doing it yourself. There were only 3 people in that room and (1) Perkins isn't talking; (2) you aren't talking; and (3) the victim did talk. Plus there was video.

Is McClendon losing the wizard rep around the defense bar? He hasn’t won a big case in a while

Not my (geographical) area to know.

This wasn't a good case to judge him b/c the crime was on video. I just don't get the not testifying thing if that was your defense.

No. The problem for him is this. He EARNED the rep. Then people with loser cases start seeking him out. He has to either protect the rep and reject their cases or do the right thing and take the cases even knowing they are losers. Everyone deserves a defense. I like the dude.

What would possess someone to video a crime they themselves were committing? How in hell did they find out about the semen in the cupcakes? Maybe they videoed that too?

I could see her getting 4-5 years, but a life sentence does not fit the punishment from similar crimes. When has another defendant ever gotten life for only one instance of just rape? Perkins actions destroyed this woman's life and I feel bad for her.

She pretty much had to testify. It’s curious that you cannot consent to sex if intoxicated, but apparently you have the mental capacity to sexually assault if intoxicated.

For one of our class reunions (Ard is married to one of our classmates), the reunion was held in Ard's barn and he had an unofficial 'band' play which featured Denny as lead vocalist. Everyone knew what a POS Denny was/is.

Not when they are convicted at trial. Aggravated Rape (now First Degree Rape) carries a mandatory life sentence without benefit. The judge could technically downward deviate from that in this case, but that would pretty much be career suicide come the next election.

didn't really know her though. Was she also married when she was Perkins' mistress?

Her husband committed suicide after her arrest.

The jurisprudence on voluntary intoxication vitiating criminal culpability is terrible for the defense. Though I believe that's something that's ripe for litigation, as it hasn't really been revisited for several decades.

I thought he could deviate as well but it seems he can’t reduce it. She is getting mandatory life without parole..

LIVINGSTON, La. (WAFB) - A Livingston Parish jury has found Melanie Curtin guilty in the 2014 sexual assault of an unconscious woman. She was then taken away in handcuffs.

The jury found her guilty of the most serious possible charge of aggravated rape, which carries a penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole or reduced sentencing.

I wonder if she played an active role in drugging the victim into the incoherent state. She may have invited the woman over, spiked her drink, then licked the poon. That would be much more devious than just licking the passed out poon, don’t ya think?

I have no idea the details of what happened here, total speculation.

Can anyone explain the sheriff position ? Why isn't the governor in investigating? Seems like a cover up just like the state police case

The media really hasn't done a good job describing the details of the video, but my best guess is that Curtin performed oral sex on the victim or something like that. A media article I read said that oral sex was performed on the victim so I'm assuming that was Curtin.

One article said she violated the victim with her mouth and fingers.
