Where to park $10k that's low risk?

My cousin mentioned that he has about $15k sitting in a savings account. I told him he'd be better off putting $10k in a more high yield option. He is 51 though and wants low risk. Not sure where to tell him to put it?

QQQ may be a good option to look into. If you want a little more risk but potentially a huge upside I would go with NVDA.

QQQ, RSP or buy the DKNG dip (I kid, I kid)
Would $10k be enough to park into a credit suisse index fund?

How long is this going to be invested? There isn’t a low risk asset class that is delivering decent returns at this moment. If he is only parking for a short time, then keep it in a high yield savings account. If investing for a longer time window, then probably easiest to do a target date fund or VTI

How easy was it to initiate? Is the only way through the Treasury Direct website (ie. not going through a brokerage like TD Ameritrade)?

It was surprisingly easy. I did it all on my phone in about 20 minutes. Yes you have to go through treasurydirect.gov

Thanks for this! Been looking for something exactly like this. Just put in $10k.
