Rooting for secession and rooting for lower inflation?

There seems to be an unusual number of people on this board rooting for political chaos and states seceding and a complete revamp of our political systems.
But there also seems to be an unusual number of people on this board worried about how much things cost now and inflation.
What makes you think that if Texas secedes from the United States and Trump is elected and guts the federal government that grocery prices will just magically stay where they are? What makes you think that gas prices will remain stable when the top oil producing state in the country frigging forms its own country? Or the unemployment rate will stay at 3 percent.
Above all else markets don't like instability and chaos. Rule of law, or a lack thereof, is the number 1 thing that staves off private investment.
If you want to fantasize about blowing up the government and be LARP about secession, that's fine. But to pretend that your life will continue as normal and everything magically would get better is just like believing in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. It's all fantasy.

I never thought that a revolution wouldn't be extremely painful.
There would be hard times and death and it should not be taken lightly.

What make you think they won’t?

Maybe we need a “new normal”

The reality is that all Americans won the nationality lottery and we should all not forget to count our blessings every now and then.
America currently is in the top 10 countries in the world for median income. All of the other countries are Scandinavian and or tiny countries. In theory our quality of life and comfort levels should be on par with India and China and Brazil and big coutnries like that.
America is the exception. It's always okay to question the government and to strive to build a "more perfect union," but to fantasize about blowing it up and starting over and magically everything eventually would be better is just fantasy.

I thought it was harder to get ahead today than ever before? At least thats what the Zoomers and Millennials say.

Americans are the most spoiled people on earth and Americans have a gratefulness problem.
Questioning the government and not being okay with the status quo is okay as long as you stop every once in a while to count your blessings and realize how fortunate you are.
To act like some self-absorbed martyr who lives in some terrible country just shows a serious lack of emotional intelligence and is just child-like and still living with your mom when you're 25-like.

It was. Now to even claim American exceptionalism is viewed as racist and unacceptable by one party.

Do we have a union right now? The two sides define each other using terms like “nazi”, “racist” and “greater threat than Al-qaeda”.
When major politicians define the opposing party as literally the worst things in the world what kind of meaningful shared Union can exist? Would you want to be unified with Nazis?

Well the economy you are rightly concerned with is predicated on fake printed money and debt obligations which are unsustainable even within the lifespan of people in their 40s due to social security and debt service obligations.
So I’d just counter that the system you are evaluating is no longer a going concern from a fiscal standpoint so a serious reset of some sort is inevitable.
If you disagree what is your answer for when we can’t even make our interest payments? Or are you a modern monetary print more money mindset person?

We survived a civil war, a Great Depression, two world wars and the 1960s. I'm thinking that we'll be able to overcome some name-calling.

Which is exactly what happened the last time half the country started demonizing the other half.
I’d far prefer to find some alternative to that ever happening again but that will require some sort of actual meaningful change being proposed whether decentralization or otherwise. Your preference for clinging to the status quo is just going to lead to the pot boiling over.
You also didn’t address the $60T debt in addition to the myriad of unfunded mandates in the context of more than 25% of all the USD ever printed being put into circulation in the last 6 years.

FYI, Texas has been storing away gold and also runs some fairly large Bitcoin mining operations in Austin and Dallas.
They are in a pretty good position to have an asset backed currency.
