IBM announces 8,000 Jobs cut and replaced with AI

CEO Arvind Krishna announced a hiring pause earlier this month, but that’s not all. He also stated the company plans to replace nearly 8,000 jobs with AI.
Krishna noted that back-office functions, specifically in the human resources (HR) sector, will be the first to face these changes.
The transition will happen gradually over the next few years, with machines potentially taking over up to 30% of noncustomer-facing roles in the five years. This means that workers in finance, accounting, HR and other areas will likely find themselves facing stiff competition from robots and algorithms.
At what point do we push ourselves out of jobs totally? This tech can be applied to a lot of industries.
Example INS. At this point, there does not need to be a massive work force in that industry. That's about 2 million jobs that can be eliminated.

What's the solution for this? I have seen people talk about service jobs...etc. At some point, we are out of those jobs too.
Where does this lead?

Keep the mass illegal immigration coming, that should help the situation.

I am sure his job (CEO) could be replaced to and save a bunch of money
It is going to be scary in ten years or so.

Well. if it screws over HR is that all bad?

As long as we remain a service based economy, we're pretty much screwed. AI will take over most white-collar middleman/middle management jobs.
This leads to CBDC, social credit scores, and UBI

A very few ridiculously wealthy and a mass population of impoverished peasants. America WAS something special, but greed killed it. This is just going to be another axe falling.

Ai will replace 300 million indian call center workers first.
This isnt a challenge unique to the US. The entire world will be grappling with this throughout my children’s lives.

AS Musk puts it, it's too late to really control AI. "Humans are now just along for the ride". He cited several instances where AI's were interacting with other AI's with no human involvement / planning. i.e. operating on their own.

I’m a university professor.
Both my undergraduate and graduate students have admitted (to each other, not to me) to using ChatGPT/OpenAI to complete their assignments.
We’re in an entirely new world; soon the collective marketplace isn’t going to know what hit it.

Really don't care as much about the old world as I do USA.
Are we going to get to the point of have to tax the AI's and robots?
That leads to the humanization of those... etc

Can’t cheat if everything is blue book.
No computers, no multiple choice. Go back to old school tests where it’s just a blue book and pencil.

Not really. You always need humans overseeing the AI.

This ^^^ seems likely to happen in the next 10 years or sooner. I know Fidelity and other financial institutions offer the robo investment option, a lot of people are purportedly using the robo investment service and are satisfied with the results....allegedly free of charge.

I said awhile back it will be AI that is receiving hundreds of thousands of college degrees every year going forward.
