A few legal questions

I'm no attorney.
What is illegal about paying hush money?
What crime is Trump accused of committing by this NY DA?
How is paying hush money different than a settlement with an NDA?

Forget about the law Trump can’t do it but Brandon and Hunter can do all things illegal and it’s Ok

It's not illegal....some would say it's unethical. In the case of Trump one would think paying hush money would endear Trump to the corrupt DC Swamp Skunks....most of them are more compromised than anything Trump has ever done.

Nothing.

Probably undisclosed or excessive campaign contributions, and/or falsifying business records.

It isn’t. The mere payment from Cohen to Daniels alone won’t be the basis of the indictment, if in fact it’s the NY case that’s going forward. It’ll be the Trump Organization’s payments to Cohen and how those payments were accounted for in the Org’s books.

It’s not a legal question. It’s a political question.

Yeah I know she's a bitch, but what did she do that anyone else wouldn't do

My understand is that they aren’t alleging that Trump Org used campaign funds, but that the payments (and more accurately the “hushing” that the payments provided) constituted a campaign contribution in excess of the personal limit.
The legal explanations I have seen are nuanced and all seem like total bullshite though, so I could be wrong.

I still don't understand why Martha Stewart went to jail

Pigs fly! This may be my sig quote

In seriousness though, the NY charges are total fricking bullshite if they come to fruition. The records charges are a damn misdemeanor…. and 6 years old at that.

A misdemeanor level offense of that nature is what’s most likely on the table, as I understand it. If anything, of course.

No, she went to jail for obstruction of justice.
She settled a civil case with the SEC for the insider trading.

Trump was surreptitiously recorded by his own lawyer discussing the payoff. Trump clearly told his lawyer to make sure any payment was “on the up and up”. This is just weaponizing government agencies for political purposes. Many here will applaud it.

Congress pays hush money to congressional victims all the time.

Wouldn’t that information be privileged info?

Wasn't there a list of congressmen who paid hush money that 'me too' exposed?

And I would that by having the insider information, she willfully swindled the people to whom she sold her stock. She was also on the board of the NYSE, so she should be setting an example.
