Chicago Mayor Lightfoot might not make the runoff

Mayor Lori Lightfoot urged Black residents to support her campaign for reelection or risk losing the seat and told people who don’t support her not to vote in a vivid display of the city’s racial politics during appearances Saturday on the South and West sides.

But with less than two weeks to the Feb. 28 election, the firecracker Democratic first-term mayor — who quickly brandished a national hate-hate relationship with conservatives — faces credible threats from at least three opponents in the nine-person race. Her unfavorables have soared with Chicagoans fed up with gun violence. In recent polling, she's failed to break into the top two.

Paul Vallas, a former CEO of Chicago Public Schools who has won the backing of Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police, and Garcia, who has high name identification and who, in 2015, forced then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel into a runoff. Garcia lost but went on to get elected to Congress.

Now Lightfoot is taking the battle to yet another candidate showing signs of surging: Brandon Johnson, a county commissioner who has the endorsement of the politically powerful Chicago Teachers Union, which has long been at odds with Lightfoot.
At a candidate forum last week, Lightfoot focused her attacks on Johnson, who has not led in polling in the way Garcia and Vallas have. It appeared to be an acknowledgment that she was battling with a surging candidate who ultimately could crowd her out from advancing to the next round.
“I take it as a sign of desperation,” Johnson said of Lightfoot’s attacks.

I'd say that's good for the people of Chicago but they're just going to elect someone as equally bad as her so it'll be business as usual in Chiraq.

She'll make the runoff.
There's still a large portion of the insane liberal machine that's backing her.

Literally anyone would be better than her at this juncture. I love how defensive Chicagoans get when people bring up how dangerous the city is.
“Oh that’s bs. It’s relegated to the crap parts south of town” lol

Beat me to it. Yes, it’s going to be another mayor that tells the police to back down due to Mr.Soros calling the shots.

Common thread among mayors in Dem stronghold cities: they weaken and alienate the police force, crime runs rampant, the citizenry turns on them, and they deny they’ve done anything wrong and ask for public support.
Lightfoot
deBlasio
Cantrell

If you don't support her, why in the frick would she think that if she told you not to vote, you wouldn't?

If not, she can get a job on The View. She's the only woman who could make Whoopi Goldberg look pretty in comparison.

Yeah, but if somebody says her name three times she'll just show back up.

Now imagine a white mayoral candidate saying something along those same lines. Say...against a dufus like broome in BR or teedy in NOLA
'White folks need to support my campaign for election...'

All it takes is saying her name 3 times in a row and she will appear.

Chicago……one of the biggest hemorrhoids in the a-hole of America!

My neighbor here in Monroe his son lives in Chicago and he voted for Lightfoot and will do it again. You can't fix stupid. People don't vote for Politicians for economic issues. They vote because they like them. They make them feel good about the vote.
I did not vote for Trump in the first primary. Now I will vote for him until he is not on the ballot. I vote for economy and not because some is gay or married or nice.

“Black residents”
Why is it that most black people feel the need to agree with each other on 90% of everything. Crabs in a bucket.

Doesn’t the city of Chicago and their residents laugh at the amount of election fraud that goes on. Almost like it is a point of pride.
What’s the point.
What’s the point.
