Credits are out of control

I'm not a big credits guy but my son is. Recently I've noticed, and I'm not sure when it started because I just recently started reading credits again, that the accountants get credit, the assistant to the assistant to the assistant gets credit, the assistant to the hair stylist, and so forth.

accountants get credit
Movies are huge productions with tons of people involved, why shouldn’t they get credit?

People are into watching the credits? Not hating, that's just fascinating to me

The hair stylist that does the actors' hair, sure. The assistant that cleaned the scissors and sanitized the comb and swept up around the chair? Sorry. You didnt help make the movie.

They are really insane in movies with a lot of special effects. Those sfx teams are huge, and they frequently employ multiple companies.

Union rules! Give everyone credit!

Most of the time it is a union thing, but for non-union jobs it is often a negotiated perk, sometimes in leu of higher salary. The reason is, that if it's a hit, you can ask for more money on the next film.

Been on this planet almost 5 decades and I have NEVER watched the credits roll unless its a MCU movie and I want the teaser. Even then, I dont watch...I just wait.

Sorry for just not caring about a bunch of random names. Do you really watch the credits and say thank you Key Grip William Jones?

I'm sure 4-6 people put together my meal at a restaurant. Not to mention the farmers, the truck drivers, etc. I never know their names.
I think we all innately understand that it takes a lot of people to do one thing. 99.9% are never recognized for that, and we all just agree that, "we get it." And should be thankful, etc. (like if you see a cook, at least say thanks for the meal)
Not that this is a GOOD thing, but recognizing or talking to every person that is responsible for together a thing is an impossible task. It's sort of imbalanced, but I don't think anyone is saying people shouldn't get credit for their work, but that it's crazy when most things we consume require assistants to assistants.

I walk before then. I'll just read the end spoilers online. Just did this on Sunday. I'm not sitting there to watch are nearly always unsatisfying MCU post credit scenes.

I could see it if you were really into the business. I hear stories all the time from musicians about how they would always dig into album credits to see recording locations, producers, engineers, etc.

I do not personally watch the credits, no. However, as a semi-professional musician/producer, I can attest that creative industries such as this rely heavily on credits to verify your work catalogue to new/potential customers.
But larger than that, I guess I just don't understand why the melt over something that is very easy to ignore if you do not care to see it.

Isn’t it a big deal in that industry to be credited on a film?

I'm afraid to ask, but why does your son watch credits at the end of movies? Theaters literally turn the lights on when credits roll because they want you to leave.

Used to be, until even the local mail man gets a credit.

I couldn’t care less about credits, because I don’t watch a single second of them unless it’s a Marvel movie. My thing is title cards are getting out of control. I just watched A Man Called Otto, and there were probably six of them

I'm sick of seeing all those 3D animated production company clips at the start of every movie, followed by their redundant credits superimposed onto the opening scene.
It seems like very movie has between 4 and 8 of those now.
