To each their own, but I truly do not get the appeal of the Macy’s Day Parade.

Especially the people who are out there with the temps in the teens with a wind chill in the single digits. They’re insane.

It's more of something to have playing in the background. For me at least.

The worst thing about the parade is the terrible TV coverage. Just stick a GoPro out there and let me watch the parade pass.

I'm pretty sure there's live streams without them

I’ve been complaining about this for years. I feel like when I was a kid it was all about the floats and balloons, now it’s 90% shitty lip syncing and NBC promos.

However, there’s a couple livestreams on YouTube I’m checking out. That may be our answer.

Edit: it looks like this YouTube Verizon live stream is just a camera stationed in a corner that the parade passes by. This may be perfect... wait now it’s cut to a couple hosts talking about social media posts about the parade... still may be better than NBC.

We did it last year and I didn't think I'd enjoy it but it was fun. Neat to see the blowing of the balloons the night before. Very festive atmosphere. We stood in 32 degree weather but it was not as bad as you would think. Similar to a Mardi Gras parade with meeting people from all other in the crowd. I would do it again as part of a NYC trip.

Forget the balloons, just fill it with marching bands.

No, 32 isn't bad at all. If it's sunny and not windy, it can actually be a pleasant temperature, provided you dress appropriately.

But today the temperature is about 19 degrees, closer to zero with the wind chill. It's about the same here. I took the dogs outside as quickly as possible this morning and don't plan on stepping foot outside again if I can help it.

I heard this is the coldest Thanksgiving recorded since 1901.

My wife and I went a couple years ago. We had a breakfast/brunch spot at a hotel overlooking the route. It was $300\person, but well worth it. The streets were more packed than any Mardi Gras parade I’ve ever been to, including the Quarter. I’d love to bring my kids.

I had a buddy that had a place overlooking the route, it made for a pretty awesome breakfast party. One of the things I miss most about thanksgiving in nyc
