Paris — Just 10 months before the opening of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, the French capital is battling an invasion of bedbugs.

The tiny pests were first reported in hotels and vacation rental apartments across the city during the summer. Then there were sightings in movie theaters and, in recent days, there have even been reports of bedbugs crawling around on seats in both national high-speed trains and the Paris Metro system.

One metro train driver was dismayed to find some of the unwelcome guests in his driver's cabin.

Horrified train passengers have shared videos of the insects on social media, prompting many travelers to pay extra attention before they sit down or drop fabric bags or coats on the floor at their feet. One person told followers that passengers were "panicking" when they realized there were bedbugs in the train carriage, and they couldn't get off until the next station.

Paris companies specializing in treating insect infestations say they've been overwhelmed in recent weeks.

The bed bug infestation is almost as bad as the Mooslim infestation.

Bed bugs are my irrational fear

idk if they're as bad and/or difficult to get rid of as I imagine they are in my mind, but I'm paranoid about having to burn my bedroom/closet to the ground

A friend of mine owns a pest control company. The videos he's shown me are horrifying. Bed bugs can completely take over your house if you don't handle it right away.

Wife got a hand me down sofa from some friends for game room. . Found out too late it was crawling with bedbugs. Burned couch. Two weeks later they were on every mattress and couch in house.

Heat kills the eggs

Bought a 500.00 steam cleaner. Every night for weeks we steam cleaned every mattress before bed and every couch cushion. We put diotematios earth on the carpet by the sack. If we found one we did the entire house again including every stitch of linen.

After probably 6 months we kicked it.

Terrible

I say friends loosely. Daughters played softball together. They seemed like nice clean people. A few days after we got the couch I was laying on it and dozed off. Woke up itching and had a small bug on my leg. Brushed it off not thinking much about it. Went into the kitchen and saw another much smaller something on my shirt.

Had to google what it was. I had never seen one.

Went to the couch. I flipped it over to look under the dust cover and shite with a flashlight and it was covered in them.

I am bed bug free but that isn't going to help me sleep tonight.

A co workers brother took a bunch discarded mattresses from a hotel and sold them to people. Most of them had bed bugs come to find out, lol.
