Seems like this would be bigger news if the hysteria is real.

I know that a lot of developers around Houston absolutely hate Trey Harris and think what he's doing is about the worst of the worst.

Now, I don't know if that's because they legitimately despise what he's doing or if they're mad that they didn't think of it first.

A Texas developer has been accused of creating a sprawling illegal migrant town by selling off land to border crossers without asking for any paperwork. William 'Trey' Harris sells plots at Colony Ridge by allowing buyers to purchase land without the need to prove income or credit, it is alleged. Critics say the scheme - around 20 miles northeast of Downtown Houston - has drawn in thousands of illegal migrants, as well as cartel activity.

quote:

Senior National Security Fellow Todd Bensman claimed Harris has been selling off plots direct to a borrowers for a few hundred dollars without conducting any background checks.

quote:

Currently the settlement is estimated to be around 60 square miles in size and home to up to 75,000 people. It is unclear how many of those are illegal immigrants. While the initial payment is relatively cheap, borrowers then face interest rates of up to ten per cent and more.

Is he building them houses or they just set up tents?

That's what an investor in a place like this would say.

Yes I read about it somewhere. There is so much crap going on with illegal migrants that it is hard to keep up.

There was a thread about it a few days ago
Illegal community outside Houston?

Also contains this interesting paragraph

quote:

Greg Abbott, Republican Governor of Texas, received $1.4 million in political contributions from Trey Harris. His wife, Celeste Harris, contributed $100,000 to the governor's campaign.

Some super rich developer from the rural county that Cleveland, texas is in is selling plots of land to people who don’t need any proof of jobs or even a social security number with insane interest rates. The entire area is turning into some third world version of an American suburb. The people who are from this area are starting to flee. That’s about it.
