Oliver Anthony cancels concert over ticket prices, yet he is the sole reason for the price

Apparently Anthony's team demanded $120,000 to perform at a venue that could only host 1,500 people ... but when the venue wanted to charge more than $40 per ticket (his preferred ticket price), he went on social media to virtue signal against it.
basically he expects the venue/city to eat all of the cost and losses.

At face value this makes him appear stupid, but I would imagine he has shady characters coming from every corner of the country right now trying to get their hands on a little bit of his financial success. It's hard to blame a guy who was performing in the woods to his dogs about two months ago.

He is a socialist idiot---
I see he canceled. It won't be long til tickets to see him are as cheap as he wants them to be.

Where in that article does it say he demanded $120k?

He says, in his video, that it was other people who booked and set everything up with this concert. I'm guessing he has an agent or manager handling everything because he's in way over his head(as alluded to with your last sentence). And I'm guessing that person is trying to take advantage of the success.

After seeing some of his other videos via X, I don't see why people support him.

People are actually paying money to see this guy? WTF

He probably doesn't know the specifics and the math involved, that other people are setting up on his behalf - probably assumes they are acting in good faith. Don't know much about him. Great song, but have heard some of his takes are bad. Who knows...

This guy is an idiot not sure why anyone gives him attention.

You could say this about 99% of famous musicians

That's not even the whole story. The VENUE was trying to charge $2k for meet and greet tickets, and that's part of what pissed him off. The dude is naive in many ways, but his intentions are good.

It is a good song, but this guy doesn't understand economics at all

This.
He has absolutely no idea what he's doing, but why should he? The man was quite literally singing in the backwoods of West Virginia to no one but his animals about a month ago.

Maybe a red flag or two in there for making him an icon and face of a movement if his too naive to understand basic math or contracts?

he cancelled a concert and is holding it another venue where they can sell more tickets, this is worthy of an entire article and headline?
this is funny because your OP and these story headlines only exist because the internet tells you to not like him
the song is OK, but it’s funny seeing the media apparatus and even his own fans (I’ve seen headlines about cancelling him because he’s not republican enough or socialist etc) start to tear him apart by nit picking at every single thing in his life…being famous absolutely sucks unless you just stay off the internet and social media

There are going to be two issues:
He was appointed to be the face of a movement that he doesn’t truly believe in. His values will clash with the groundswell that pushed him forward
He does not have the savvy or skill set to generally navigate this and maximize the outcomes meaningful to him.
Ultimately, he will end up a small blip on the radar and a story told occasionally. He will be a touring musician forever but not in any meaningful scale. Enough to put gas in the tank.
