Being interviewed by Tommy Tucker right now

Interesting as Destroya refuses to go on this station

She’s saying the right things but she sounds 200 years old

And you just know Tommy Tucker is going to ask all the hard hitting, tough questions.

Outside thinking

No connection to cliques

Need to stop thinking we are a bigger department and be realistic about the number of officers we have

Stop fighting the feds on the consent decree, work with them to wrap it up

i don’t necessarily agree with the hire in any way, but maybe bringing in an outsider is a positive

There are too many people making too much money for the consent decree to be wrapped up. It’s a massive gravy train. Mitch fricked the city big time with that one.

I think the more people listen to her talk the more they’ll like this pick. She certainly says the right things.

Maybe not the OT, but people in the city

Mitch destroyed the NOPD and the city by entering into the consent decree. Many on this board predicted the fallout that we see today when he entered into it. If her priority is to comply and then move to terminate it, then she may be able to accomplish something. The crime in the city won’t get better until the consent decree is terminated. Not sure many on this board realize just how much the consent decree prevents NOPD from actually performing law enforcement activities. Crime was really bad prior to it, but for the most part confined to certain areas and was largely drug related. The anarchy, carjackings, broad daylight robberies, and rampant random violence was about 1/10 of what we see today.

She was the least objectionable of the candidates. I like what I heard.

Whatever has to be done to get out of the consent decree needs to be done. If its a year or two of total compliance (which will be awful), then so be it.

One thing that really sets her apart is she’s from Oakland which is also under a consent decree.

The first thing Kirkpatrick mentioned was a way to develop relationships to move NO out of the consent decree and ways to increase staffing.

I read 3 council members will vote no. Did Destroya pick her knowing she would not get approved just keep Woodfork in longer?

Until New Orleans moves towards a Giuliani style NYPD stop-and-frisk crackdown, nothing will improve. They need more police, which means a mayor, DA, and superintendent that will back them up.

Woodwork interm expires on Sept 23. Will not be able to continue being superintendent. Latoya will have to pick someone else from within the dept

On sept 23 Ann takes over as interim before her hearing next month. Latoya may be dumb but I doubt she does that unless she knows she has 4 votes.

The stuff they are tripping over isn’t high level shifts in philosophy-

I haven’t been involved in a few years but I recall proper photo arrays for witnesses to ID people being one of the big misses a couple years ago, as an example.

I don't think Latoya wants her. I think this is a candidate that either

1. She wants to fail in front of the council to usher Woodfrick in.

B. The council wants up first to vote in as some sort of backroom deal to let Latoya off elsewhere.
