YouTube - Driving is ruining our lives

Based video that all you cringe car bros need to watch.

Cars are killing us and making us poorer and unhealthy.

Time to ditch the retarded city planning from the 1950s and embrace the train, bikes, and mixed use developments and neighborhoods.

I'll be here for the soying out by all our resident truck bros.

Covered in the video. Leads to sedentary lives and higher blood pressure and just more unhappy people.

We also lose a ton of time in anticipation of the traffic.

Roads and highways are just a terrible use of space.

Less roads and more trains and bikes. I'll fight this fight the rest of my life.

Shout out Parking Reform Network, working to end retarded parking minimums in cities.

As long as it’s a voluntary choice, sure. If you want your mixed use development in your city, you can have it. Enjoy.

I want my rural areas with space and wide open green and woods.

Let people live how they want to live.

So you’re one of those people that wants to ride bikes in the heat and public transportation with stinking homeless people? By “those people” I mean idiots. You can have at it, but I don’t see the need to take an hour to get somewhere if I can take 5 minutes.

Just me, but I'm a big fan of coming and going whenever the hell I want. Also a big fan of being in control of where I stop and when I stop or, wait for it, not stopping at all.

Toll roads vs tax payer funded roads would solve a lot of sprawl we now see.

That might work in Europe where cities are smaller and closer together. In America the cities are sprawling and far apart. It would be very inefficient for our layout. Otherwise it would have been done that way to start off with.

Do you count waiting in traffic as your choice or out of your control?

What is voluntary about our current cities and urban planning? The shite we are forced to live with now was decided by people who have been dead for decades.

In many cases these now dead people destroyed rail lines and other walkable areas of cities to make way for all this retarded sprawl and car culture with jUsT oNe MoRe LaNe BrO that we suffer from now.

We live with the ill effects of urban sprawl, more flooding, and heat island effects because of decisions made by people who have been dead for decades.

We are dealing with the consequences of the retarded decisions made by prior generations.

Not to mention, it is not arguable that we are all poorer, more unhappy, fatter, and unhealthy due to the tertiary consequences of the mass adoption of the personal car and how our cities are built and designed.

Live in a small city where I don't wait in traffic at all. Worst wait time may be five minutes. Commute is twenty. Also my choice, which is kind of my whole point.

The video discusses how cringe American car and suburb culture has ruined the island of Puerto Rico.

By design due to the mass adoption of the car in the 1940s and 1950s. I know that is the golden age for the OT but cities were not like they are now prior to the end of WWII.

You lack any vision.

Lulz. There has been deliberate lobbying by car manufacturers, developers, and NIMBYs to continue the awful urban planning we have to this day.

In cities with reliable mass transit you can do this.

Public transportation will never make any headway until the local governments do something about vagrants and criminals in the system. There are entire subway lines in New York that the city is completely okay with being dangerous and filthy.

If there were a conduct code and security, I would go out of my way to use public transportation.

In other countries like China, you could live a two hour drive away from where you work and take a bullet train for 30min and be at work. The trains are as clean as any airliner. Same with their busses.

Since Covid allowed me to wfh, traffic isn’t an issue at all. Seems like instead of trying to force us all into a liberal mold, we should just be allowed to choose.

Design desirable, affordable options and people will come. I have no desire to be around thousands of people sharing the same space.
