In many cases these now dead people destroyed rail lines and other walkable areas of cities to make way for all this retarded sprawl and car culture with jUsT oNe MoRe LaNe BrO that we suffer from now. We live with the ill effects of urban sprawl, more flooding, and heat island effects because of decisions made by people who have been dead for decades. We are dealing with the consequences of the retarded decisions made by prior generations. Not to mention, it is not arguable that we are all poorer, more unhappy, fatter, and unhealthy due to the tertiary consequences of the mass adoption of the personal car and how our cities are built and designed.
I kinda agree with all this
Eta: I don’t necessarily blame it on the car but other points are good

You gotta laugh at the vehemently anti-city baws (at least anti cities in the current state)who also are vehemently opposed to anything that may be a shift from the status quo.
“Cities are crime infested shitholes. frick living in or near a city”
“You’re right, cities do suck arse. We should make changes to the way we develop cities to make them better than they are now”
“Booo frick that. I prefer things to stay shitty an unproductive”

It’s just a different form of virtue signaling
I was just in nyc and we were somewhere in lower manhattan and there was a two or three block area full of bars with the streets blocked off/no cars and it was nice as hell. Much better “vibe” than cabs zipping up and down and cars parked on the street.

City leaders, planning commissions, city managers, zoning boards, etc. can do what they want. That’s their job to lead. I just don’t think people want to assimilate as much as everyone is led to believe.
There is a reason races, classes, socioeconomic levels always group together. In school, at work, in towns, in neighborhoods, etc. There’s also a reason there are gated communities. We as a society and a country haven’t progressed to the point where we are ready for all of us to walk together, ride together, eat together, live together. There is a reason there are cabs and subways in New York City.

I have no desire to live in a city. I don’t care what happens there at all. Not my problem.

I was in Kirkland, Washington visiting friends last month. They have streets downtown that limit car travel and parking and it is much nicer and full of restaurants, bars, art galleries, shops, etc. and it was packed every night I was in town.
It is almost like that is how cities were meant to be. For people and not for giant loud automobiles roaming everywhere.
We are playing anecdotal games but these areas are the most expensive and desirable for a reason.

Thanks for your excellent contribution. haha.
Do you happen to know why your fellow country baws that hate cities so much have such strong opinions on how cities should be planned and designed?
