Following suit with other Republican-controlled statehouses in the country, lawmakers in the Louisiana House passed a bill Tuesday that would ban gender-affirming medical care to minors, advancing the legislation to the Senate for further debate.

Chairman Fred Mills, a Republican, was the tie-breaking vote to defer HB648. He joined Democrats in opposition to the bill following a 5-4 vote in a Senate committee meeting.

Allowing garden district libs to remove their bloodlines from the gene pool will only make society better in the long run.

In fighting the bill, liberal transgenders said it was “literally written by hitler.”

I have seen this view point before, but no one will stop them from adopting children and teaching them (along with all of ours).

Same here, now we have to teach our kids about evil sexual perversions and deviancy much much earlier because wolves in sheep’s clothing have infiltrated every facet of society

I really feel like this is a decision between the parents and their kids. Laws like this seem to me to be government overreach.
I think all this trans stuff isn’t healthy. I think it’s a bad idea that minors get life altering surgery. They are too young to make that decision. But in America, people have the right to make dumbass decisions.
Minors also shouldn’t be covering themselves in tats, two hundred pounds overweight, fricking up their earlobes, etc. But it’s between them and their parents.
I think this is low hanging fruit for Republicans. They need to address other issues.

Like "reproductive health" and "planned parenthood" this is a complete bastardization of language.

I agree 100%.
There is a ton of gray area, though.
But if both parents, the child, and doctors are for this sterilization treatment, I don't think the state or federal government should be in the way.
Just like at 18 years old, i don't think the parents should get a say any longer.
Less government, please.

It's not surprising that Fred Mills supports trannies.

Nothing is more useless in Louisiana that the Republican Party. Where you see wins in other states and wonder why Louisiana can’t have those, just look at our states GOP

I can understand banning surgery and some hormonal treatments that are not reversible until they are of age to make that decision themselves.
But some of these bills are often written vaguely enough that there's collateral damage. They removed therapists from the ones here in Kentucky, but it included a portion where there was a thirty- year statute of limitations if we provided anything that could be construed as "gender-affirming care". That could be as simple as a client says they want to commit suicide and in your crisis evaluation you use their preferred pronoun to de-escalate. At that point you're just running off mental healthcare providers who don't want to deal with that potential issue.
