People who have worked for a company 10+ Years

How do you do it? Why do you do it?
This isn't a judgement thread, I'm actually asking. I understand needing to bring in money, but what I'm asking is what keeps you at the same place year after year, particularly if you can get a job somewhere else.
How do you keep doing the same job/industry for decades?
Just so you don't think I'm poking judgement or anything, I'm at a workplace that seems fine, there's a path for a bit of advancement, but when I think about being there for more than a year or so I can't fathom it. I'd love to do it, but as soon as I understand a job I'm bored and want to move on to something new. Longeast I've stayed at a place has been 18 months. I don't like this. I'd like stability and to remain employed somewhere, get some tenure, increase my salary. Ideally, I'd like to be at this place 5-10 years before bouncing.
Unleash your secrets, tenured people of the OT.

Sometimes job security is more important than a 12% pay bump when you are still raising kids. I've been at my current job for 11 years.
They also pay me about the max I'll make in this market and I have a lot of PTO and good benefits.

It’s called loyalty
Us boomers give the plant 40 good years and they return the favor with pay, a pension, a watch, etc etc
You millenials jump from job to job and wonder why the company doesn’t treat you like family

I’ve been at my job six years and it comes down to change making me anxious

as I understand a job I'm bored and want to move on to something new.

My job has benefits and salary that make leaving very difficult.

I've been at my job 18+ years. I'm a mill operator in a metals plant. Good pay. Good benefits. Large, family owned company. No reason to leave.

I actually like the people I work with. Hard to believe I know but it’s true. Good pay and benefits.

1) pension
2) job movement within company so I’m never doing the same thing every 2-3 years.
3) maybe I’m in good with a potential rising star so will hopefully be in the good ole boys club later on
4) haven’t found anything better yet that covers the cost of change or is stable enough now that I have family

Mainly long enough for a good retirement. I stayed with HCA long enough, made them millions, started programs at the hospital level that went corporate wide and saved them even more..........but I guarantee you, no one at the corporate level knew my name 2 months after I left. Consulting is the name of the game

I have this malady as well.

Noncompete clause. Can’t do my job and not move my family. Have a 16 and 12 yo. After getting out of military promised some stability. Plus I work for some really good people. Every job has its downsides. Grass isn’t always greener and money is not everything.

what keeps you at the same place year after year
Been at my company just under 12 years now. Difficult, often stressful role, but I’m well compensated to put up with it. That’s the bottom line on why I’m still there, the ‘well compensated’ part.
