Any Cartography experts on the OT? update pg3

I found this framed map this morning for $8. I took it out the frame and realized it is a pressing, not a print.
In the last two photos, it’s hard to see, but the map is pushed through the back, raised like braille. This is telling me it is a pressing, not a print. The cartographer was John (Iohn) Senex. I cannot find a date on it. After I took it out of the frame, there is a pencil writing in the margins of 1719. John Senex died in 1740.

The Perry-Castaneda Map Collection at the University of Texas might be able to tell you more.

Mid 20th century reproductions of that map are common. Paper looks too bright to be an original.
I have a Master's in Geography with a focus on colonial Louisiana and have handled many real, old maps.
I think there is a real original pressing of that map at Hill and the EBR main library. I think both collections are now scanned. You can compare the colors of the paper and ink.

I found these two. They are pressings as well, but we’re hand colored afterwards

It may or may not be real, but people ask me all the time how I have some knowledge in a lot of stuff. It’s because of things like this. When I buy some I have no idea of, I will research it, learning things I never knew before.

With the one at the Library of Congress, theirs is 48cm x 58cm. It also has hand coloring and came from the New General Atlas published in 1721. Some of the other onnes sold at auction appear to have different dimensions. Size and paper composition may be the best indicators of retail value.
