Hahnville QB "hearing" Thursday

The LHSAA is tasked with ensuring fairness in high school athletics.
Clearly, the kid wearing a jersey to a photo shoot has nothing to do with that.
The issue is, was the kid "recruited" and not a bona-fide relocation?
I'm very curious to see if any additional details come out of the hearing. If the only "proof" is this photo shoot, I think that's insanely pathetic and not worthy of a year suspension for the kid.
It seems to me a better option would have been for the magazine to tell the kid, look, don't wear a jersey at all. It doesn't change the fact he's one of the top 50 prospects or whatever.

But before either happened in this case, Robison was asked to be on the cover of Louisiana Football Magazine. Such a request is an honor for any athlete, as generally only 60 or so of the state's top seniors are invited to participate. On the annual cover, players wear their school's respective jerseys for the photo, which is shot soon after spring football has ended and long before summer practice begins.
At the time of the photo shoot, Robison was a player without a team, knowing he wouldn't go back to Vandebilt, but he was not yet enrolled at Hahnville.
"I did want to be on the cover of the magazine, and to be honest, I wanted to wear my Vandebilt jersey out of respect for them," said Robison in a broadcast interview with NOLA.com during halftime of last Friday's Hahnville game against Ehret. "... But I was told that was not an option for me."
His close friend, Jha'Quan Jackson, Hahnville's best player, got him a Tigers jersey to wear - with the permission of Hahnville Coach Nick Saltaformaggio.
No one denies it was the wrong thing to do.

No chance. This never happens.

DISCLAIMER: I am assuming the jersey was the only issue here.
Stuff like this really pisses me off about the LHSAA. Kids like this get shut down, not allowed to play while schools like Lafayette Christian Academy basically have their athletics like fricking IMG.

I believe the kids parents were in the process of moving to St Charles Parish.

But he was going to attend Hahnville right. This wasn't in dispute am I right?

His father was a HC of Basketball and was looking to move back to where he was first from St. Charles, as you aforementioned.
This is a very strange situation as he is a HC with a great athletic son; he is looking for a job; what do you do as an Athletic Director? You contact him? Is that recruiting by doing so?
See how the rabbit hole goes?
This is absurd he is ineligible. Absolutely absurd. I expect he will be allowed to play this Friday. Hahnville has put it in the tank since they were hit with sanctions.

The LHSAA is extremely incompetent and for the most part corrupt. Which kids are eligible when moving schools depends on who knows who inside the LHSAA.

oh no, make no mistake. I know how it works. My dad years ago was on the executive committee. I know how it rolls. I was just trying to get the story straight.

The "hire dad/uncle as coach so son/nephew will play for us" thing has been going on for years, at the high school and college levels.
But, unless evidence comes out different, I don't think it's quite as simple as this. In this case, the dad was fired from one job, found another, and relocated to the school zone.
Is the dad - a legit coach - supposed to not be able to get a new job, when fired, just because the kid is a star athlete?
This isn't a school giving me, a non-teacher who has never coached for pay in my life, a job as the assistant offensive line quality control coach so my kid will go there. It's a lot more nuanced than that.
Unfortunetly, LHSAA doesn't do nuance well. And while the public schools will screw the private schools every chance they get, the lesser-talented publics will also screw the more-talented publics every chance they get, as well.

Pooka expected him to go low, so he went high.

Yes, this ruling seems based off a technicality soley, until proven otherwise.
Also, VC twitted about how they felt it was unfortunate the young man was ruled ineligible. Bitches, did you expect differently?
Yes, a known commodity as a coach (albeit bad one at basketball it seems) was looking for a job (who wouldnt) and schools may wish to hire him.
As i said, you are an AD, do you contact him? You know his son is a star, but he is going to apply everywhere in that parish likely while also finding a suitable apot for his son to play QB. Destrehan? Nope, they have Blood and Marin. St Charles? Hell no, they still have that freshman from a few years back playing. Riverside? Maybe, but he aint getting no HC job there in Basketball
..
On the surface this looks incredibly bad and sad. A sham; a shame.
The LHSAA has to be desolved with an acid.

One of the big problems was the couch was in contact with the kid long before he was enrolled. Which that is recruiting.

Define BIG PROBLEMS...
Kid already decided to leave and go to Hahnville, who gives a shite if a coach is in contact with his future QB. Im glad to have a coach who is smart enough to maintain that contact to show he and his staff desire his services.
But, still sounds ridiculous. Dad was fired; is a BB HC; Salt is an AD, so he called the man up or vice versa. How is this a story? WTF?

Salt should have been a bit more cautious here knowing how fricked up the LHSAA is. I still fault the LHSAA for jeopardizing the potential college career of one of their student athletes over something so seemingly trivial...if this is truly the primary issue at the heart of the matter.
frick Vandebilt "Catholic" and their coaches for basically going all elementary school with their "if I can't play with this toy, nobody will" mindset. They knew exactly what they were doing when they submitted the complaint. They knew exactly they were doing when then submitted their complaint when they did. And they knew exactly what the penalty to the student athletes would be should the LHSAA rule in their favor.
The statement they issued is such complete "cover your arse" bullshite. I can't imagine anyone actually bought that shite.

Y'all need to look at the whole scope and context of the rule.
Posted on 9/13/18 at 6:32 am to choupiquesushi
Had his dad kept his mouth shut while the boy was still at Vandy about him going to Hahnville for his senior year, nobody would have known shite. He blabbed to the Houma paper, probably to send the middle finger to Vandy and it escalated from there. He shouldn't have been given a Hahnville jersey to wear on the magazine cover since he wasn't a student there yet.
Vandy said they don't think the boy should be punished so severely but the rule reads that the school and athlete both get punished. Don't expect the LHSAA to lift the suspension.
