French Open: doubles pair disqualified after stray shot leaves ball girl in tears

The supervisor was then called to the court and the decision was made to disqualify the pair.

It looked like the ball girl wasn't paying attention and instead of being ready to collect the ball she gets hit in the neck and starts crying. Shame on Marie and Sara for being tattletales and winning the match by disqualification.

Sounds like the real issue is the rule. It seems intent doesn't really matter, if you hit them, it's an auto DQ
Also, lets give the kid a break. It's a kid, and it's possible she was crying simply because she got caught up and was in the middle of this, not because she's crying in pain or whatever. That's the way it appeared to me.

If the opponents went to chair ump lobbying for a disqualification for that then I hope they lose their next match 0-6, 0-6, never win another match and lose their professional status. They didn’t give a shite about that girl getting hit with softly hit tennis ball.

Somebody on a tennis forum said the asian team will get no prize money due to the default. That is brutal on a couple of doubles specialists.
