Twenty-three of the past 26 NFL Man of the Year award winners have founded a nonprofit organization since the accolade was named in honor of Payton, the 1977 recipient, shortly after his death in 1999.

A six-month investigation by The USA TODAY Network into nonprofits founded by Payton award winners found that Wilson’s organization reported it spent almost $600,000 — or just 24.3 cents of every dollar — on charitable activities in 2020 and 2021 combined and nearly twice as much, $1.1 million, on salaries and employee benefits in that span, according to federal tax records.

This includes more than $200,000 a year for an executive who also worked for Ciara and Russell Wilson’s family office, the nonprofit confirmed, which raises questions about excess benefit transactions, private inurement and the organization’s “free-for-all” governance structure, nonprofit experts said.

This is why when businesses ask you to “round up for charity” you should always say no

I've read the average is 60-70% for all charities, so this looks pretty bad.

This is not unusual for charities, sadly.

Heard a piece on this the other day comparing Wilson's charity to Bradley Chubb's, John Fox's, Von Miller's, and a few more. They were all in the 70-98% range while Wilson's was 24%. Real bad look.

Sadly, this is par for the course.....and perhaps even better than most of these type of charities.

When Russell signed with Denver, all the Safeways in the Denver area had a popup on the checkout screen asking if you wanted to donate to his charity. It felt gross at the time. Turns out that gut feeling was right.

Meanwhile Drew Brees donated 10 million dollars of his money to Louisiana his final year before retirement and this board continues to shite on him

“But muh politics and he bent the knee”

Yeah let me know when you’re willing to donate almost half your salary…

This is why my family never donates to these charities.

Before I get crucified, we find these group homes or shelters in 3rd world countries (for my parents it's Vietnam their home country), do our research, and when we visit there (or friends that do) - we either donate or buy the food/supplies ourselves. frick these scum "executives"

I don’t think Russ is a bad guy. [

But you know he’s carrying a boatload of overhead.
