Two of the greatest college athletes of all time sporting the purple and gold. Doesn't get much better than Big Dick Joe and Pistol Pete.

That’s a weird reply but okay.
Didn’t Pistol Pete get a little cultish with his religious stuff later in life and then start believing in aliens or something like that?

Leader in home runs hit in a season in baseball. Offensive dominance in the big 3.

It was a joke, hence the misspelled "to" and the exclamation points at the end. I wanted to see how many boomers would un-ironically upvote me

That's one that will for sure never get broken even if they add a bunch more games to the schedule.

Nothing cultish about believing in aliens. Our own Navy does.

Prior to his untimely death, he became an evangelical Christian.

After injuries forced his retirement from the game in the fall of 1980, Maravich became a recluse for two years. Through it all, Maravich said he was searching "for life". He tried the practices of yoga and Hinduism, read Trappist monk Thomas Merton's The Seven Storey Mountain and took an interest in the field of ufology, the study of unidentified flying objects. He also explored vegetarianism and macrobiotics. Eventually, he became a born again believer, embracing evangelical Christianity. A few years before his death, Maravich said, "I want to be remembered as a Christian, a person that serves Him [Jesus] to the utmost, not as a basketball player."[29]

Well this thread has taken a weird turn

It was a little unexpected, but when the aliens stuff was posted, just thought it might be helpful to set the record straight so that the whole story was out there. Hopefully the thread can get back on its original track.

Aliens, God and cults. This thread is officially derailed.

I think Larson still has the SEC single season records for HRs and RBIs.
