I think most people don't realize that LSU Basketball is a combined 0-11 in Final Four games all time. Have a look at this elephant in the room:

Men:
1953 L vs Indiana 67-80
1953 L vs Washington 69-88 (3rd place game)
1981 L vs Indiana 49-67
1981 L vs Virginia 74-78 (3rd place game)
1986 L vs Louisville 77-88
2006 L vs UCLA 45-59

Women:
2004 L vs Tennessee 50-52
2005 L vs Baylor 57-68
2006 L vs Duke 45-64
2007 L vs Rutgers 35-59
2008 L vs Tennessee 46-47

Given that football and baseball are a combined 8-2 in championship games/series, is this a cultural issue? I believe it is because we collectively crown their arse once they win the regional, and then they go get their butts whooped. But hey at least we are due maybe? Discuss.

Well, we took it to those cowards in Pittsburgh to win the title, so, I guess we're undefeated in finals, though.

0-9. Consolation games don't count toward a final 4 win or loss in the opinion of most people. Rightfully so.

No, it is the nature of the tournament.

That makes no sense at all to me. They all know they need to win to continue. What "we" do has little bearing on that unless they have a bad coach.

I think one, maybe two, of the LSU women's teams were legitimate possibilities to win it all. The Shaq/Stanley Roberts/Chris Jackson team was the only real threat on the men's side in my lifetime, IMO. Not sure about the Petit team. All the others did well to make the final four.

This is actually an interesting topic.

Those consolation games were played in the same location on the same floor as part of the same tournament, so I included them.

LSU blew 2005, ironically against Kim Mulkey. Led by 19 at half and lost by 11.

I think the 1986 mens team had a 9 point lead at halftime agains Louisville and lost by 11. I don’t suppose Dale made any second half adjustments? I watched that game and had my heart shattered.

The Shaq , Roberts and Jackson team were no threat at all. They were individual talents with no team chemistry . Did you not see the 2000 and 2006 teams? They were much better teams.

You really shouldn’t talk when it comes to dumbass posts.

You corner the market with them.

If Rudy doesn’t get injured (ankle) 1978-1979, then hand in elite 8 final in 80-81, LSU wins one minimum. That 78-79 team would beat the brakes off of every LSU team. The 78-79 team was unreal. Heck 80-81 only lost 5 games all season

Another alter. I post facts and stats and have played, umped and watched enough of most college and professional sports to have insight from more years than you were even in nutville from your sperm donor.

Dale’s ‘81 team could have/should have won it

We didn't lead by 19 at half. We had an early big lead but Baylor had pulled to almost even by halftime.

2006 UCLA was such a disappointment. We weren’t competitive from the tip off.

Um, yeah, we do.

It's pretty commonly known that LSU has made several Final Fours, and those are considered the pinnacle of the program's success. Had we advanced to a final, THAT would be. And had we won, then THAT would be.
Do you not agree?

And making the Final Four is considered a big achievement, because it's hard to get there. You know how Kansas is considered a Blue Blood? Do you know how many times they won the NCAA tournament?
4 times.
It's the 16 Final Fours that separate the program from others.
