one thing daniels didn't accomplish

he didn't make the players around him look great. he personally had great stats, but not a single skill player on offense had good stats. the oline would've looked better had he not hung onto the ball so much. Yes, I realize he did help them early in the season with his running ability.
not knocking daniels, just offering perspective on why it's not surprising that so many want to give someone else a chance to throw the ball. many of us thought that we'd have a couple receivers look all world with lots of yardage and big plays. the big passing attack would've helped the run game, which did show improvement throughout the year. but who was the big runner? J.D.
He gave his best effort, no doubt, but this failing, imo, is a big one.

There was alot of "Look at how much time he has" that made the oline look pretty good. Ironically their stats ended being shite because he took so many sack though.

Because he was the only QB in college that would not throw the ball away.

Damone will come on here and talk about how bad our OL and WR’s are
Posted on 12/6/22 at 9:08 pm to stephendomalley
The WRs as a group were underutilized. That’s on JD and Denbrock.

He heads people calling Josh Williams an nfl RB lol

This WR group was substantially overrated as a group, and it showed regardless of QB.
Look at the drops and whatnot that Nuss experienced too.

His play helped our O line grow and become above average, IMO.

Maybe his play calling was a bit limited. Esp the passing game.

Yes . An honest appraisal . An All American candidate in Boutte … who never really got the ball on time or in space . Never utilized fully . The other receivers the same . Can’t believe the receivers are too happy about JD .

You got downvoted but the stats don’t lie in the Georgia game. JD had a higher completion percentage both attempted about the same number of passes. So either the receivers did drop a lot of balls or Nuss is no more accurate than JD.

And yet Boutte (who would still be a first round draft) is coming back knowing full well JD may be the starter next year. Weird

Denbrock is known for dink and dunk passing.

This is a take
Williams? Nabers? Taylor? Goodwin was coming on before injuries. Freshmen OL looked great.

Yall kill me.
Boutte dropped 2 TDs in the first game. Bouute barely jump for what would have been a TD vs UGA. I mean he has to throw it over the DB, but Boutte barely jumped for it (see how WRs did that for Burrow in 2019). Boutte caught the ball at the one yard line vs Arkansas and couldn't muscle one yard (guys like Chase and Jefferson did that for Burrow in 2019).
Jenkins dropped what would have been either a long gain or a long TD vs Tennessee.
They did a no call TD pass with Mason Taylor vs UAB
Lacy dropped what would have been damn near walk in TD vs TAMU.
Multiple TD passes were called back during the year because of penalties. Many 3rd down drops that hit them right in the hands.
If I go back and watch games, I could probably come up with a couple more, but my God the receivers were inconsistent the entire year.
In all honesty, despite his flaws and the team's flaws, Daniels should have had over 3000 passing yards and at least 20 TD passes had WRs really shown their talent. Also vs UGA he had 204 and a TD averaging 8.7 per pass. If he was healthy for the 2nd half, he could have easily hit 400 passing yards with 2-3 pass TDs, and you'd be looking at a 3000 yard passer with 18 TD passes 820 rush yards and 11 TD rushes.
Because he didn't play the 2nd half vs UGA, he's going to need about 400 total yards and 3 TDs in the bowl game to hit 4000 total yards and 30 total TDs.

Sorry our WRs don't make miraculous catches on the one throw your qb attempts out of every 10 pass plays called

“Denbrock is known for dink and dunk passing.”
This statement is the polar opposite of the truth. Nobody calls more deep routes in college football than Mike Denbrock.
