Yeah, I bet The Big East tries to nab a few schools really quick. If that doesn't work, the football conference collapses to be absorbed by whatever conferences or to become independents (?)

Notre Dame isn't going anywhere.
In the long-run I bet the Horns end up with them (Independents)

You're right, but they have wanted in the Big XII from the beginning. They won't compete year in and year out with UT and OU, but Iowa State, KS, KState, Baylor, and even TT they certainly can. That puts them in a decent bowl game, most years. The Big East is dying anyway.

So does the Big East file suit against TCU and/or Big 12 now?

astute observation. the big east has lost boston college, miami, va. tech, syracuse and pittsburg. they sued over the first three and lost.

Notre Dame needs to join the Big East in all sports and run that shite like Louisville ran the Metro conference (and like Texas wants to run the Big 12). Unequal revenue sharing, make your own rules, etc. All the benefits of being independant, with none of the problems.

Knowing how t.u. works, they probably believe they destabilize the Big East by adding TCU enough to get Notre Dame to abandon ship and join them in the Big 12. I'm saying that's what they're thinking, not what's going to happen. Also, t.u. will stay at a 10 team league for a while, unless Notre Dame, for some ODD reason, decides they do want to join, because they fear that having an actual conference championship game would affect their easy schedule path to a BCS bowl every year.

I actually told a Baylor fan this exact thing today - not so much in that Texas would do it in a nefarious way but that it could be an unintended consequence. Actually, I said if Louisville jumped ship THAT would be the thing to destabilize....

I don't ND does anything until it absolutely has to (e.g., NBC is up and/or sweetheart BCS deal is no longer offered).

I will give TCU the benefit of the doubt and say they remain relevant in football in the Big 12. Their addition still does nothing for the fundamental problems of the Big 12 - all the markets are in Texas (double if Mizzou leaves), and all the north teams are moochers of talent and tv sets.

Quality of play was not the issue in the Big 12, it was good enough (especially if you compare it to the big east). Hell, they were probably the best behind the SEC for most of the BCS, and competitive in all sports. The Big 12 is a good sports conference, but a bad business conference. Adding TCU only reinforces and magnifies this problem.

Best of luck to TCU. I lived in Ft. Worth several years and they are generally good people.

Unequal revenue sharing

This again? Unequal revenue sharing was most adamantly supported by Nebraska, even though Dr. Tom Osborne cited it as the reason for leaving. What can you expect, though, from someone who took up for Lawrence Phillips and said he needed love and understanding after Phillips dragged his girlfriend down a flight of stairs and bashed her head against a mailbox.

Texas and Texas A&M also voted for it; hence, Texas was not alone.

If the Big East dies, Notre Dame joins the Big 10, if they join a conference at all.

Good for TCU. They responded to getting left out of the Big 12 by posting 11 winning seasons in the last 15 years. Their previous 11 winning seasons up to the end of the SWC took 40 years (1956-1995). They answered the bell and improved their program.

Thanks Baloo. Getting left out of the Big 12 was the best thing that could've happened to us. Luckily we figured out shortly after the SWC breakup how great of a marketing tool a good athletic program can be for the university. Then we shelled out money to hire Fran, which led to GMFP. But the gamechanger has been AD Chris Del Conte (CMFDC), who can raise money like nobody else. He's a straight baller and in under 3 years he's moved mountains.

For those who think our fanbase extends 100' from campus, you should take a walk around downtown Fort Worth on a Friday. You'll see the majority of people on the streets in a 700K+ town wearing purple. It wasn't the case when I was there, but the town has adopted the team in a big way. As far as viewership and marketing, there was only one school that the TV partners said their data on projected ad revenue and eyeballs didn't indicate a need to decrease the television contract if they were selected to replace A&M... That was the team selected today.

Look, I hate the whole line about TCU getting screwed in 1996. they didn't screwed, they were a terrible program. However, they responded exactly as you'd want an AD to respond -- by committing resources to get better. The fact TCU has had as many winning seasons in 15 years as they had in the previous 40 speaks volumes.

Don't whine, get better. They did, and are being justly rewarded. Hard not to respect that.
