So now the Big East invites basically all of CUSA East, right? UCF, ECU, maybe Memphis...

It depends how hamstrung the football side of the conference is by the non-basketball side of the conference.

It also depends on how much they're willing to become C-USA circa 2004, as they may end up with Louisville, Cincy, South Florida, East Carolina, Houston, Southern Miss, Tulane, etc.

If the Big East gets raped any more and blows up, what does ND do? No longer has a home for non-football sports.

Everyone in Oklahoma is unjustifiably pumped about TCU--they think it's the Big XII savior. Unfortunately this team (that's lost to Baylor and SMU this year mind you) adds nothing of significance: No fan base outside of their small alumni, no decent sized stadium, no television sets, nothing really. The Big XII is done. Adding another passenger to a sinking ship doesn't stop the ship from sinking.

TCU at least has some elements that make for a good football program - a good location and a lot of money for athletics

Obviously they will be a little brother to OU and Texas but that's what OU and Texas seem to want

The non-football sports in the BE will survive, just short of a schism between the all-sports members and the non-football members.

Even if a schism occurs, ND will probably end up being part of a "Catholic League" with the non-football schools like St. John's and so forth for the non-football sports.

dont discount the complete and total lack of local support outside the immediate geographical area of campus - I'm talking like 100ft

Outside of direct alumni, the numbers of fans are in the dozens

At least now they might be able to sell out home games, at least for the games against TX and OK schools.

At least they have the nads to step into a conference where they will have to play several perrinial powerhouses every year.

I would love to see BSU do this and get a real attitude adjustment.

To hell with n.d.....the little east just showed what kind of a whore conference it is by letting the domers play all BUT football in their league !
IF you want all your teams to play in a conference ...then ALL of your teams must do so...IF all the decent conferences followed this simple rule...no-one would be nd's bitch anymore !

They're going to have to bring up the 6% graduation rate and maybe increase that huge $61 million endowment a bit before they start talking to big boy conferences.

Boise is such a 1 trick pony community college its not even funny.
