Hard pass. I've seen this movie before. Mediocre Sparty coach has one good season, comes to LSU, leaves for the NFL, and takes the Bama job.

Using that analogy, you would have been ok with ogeron in 2020. Did you want him as hc ?

Had Orgeron been an NFL head coach or DC?

How about a college DC?

He’s not my choice, but the knocking of him is idiotic.

I’m not knocking him, I’ve said nothing one way or the other about him. But having one good season and people are saying he’s all that is what’s idiotic.

You sound made because a black coach is succeeding and people are giving him credit which you do not want, you probably also feel trump should be president

How about this? He’s had a top 15 defense every year he’s been a college DC or head coach, except 1 year at Colorado.

Lol. Uh, no. You are making things up. Go ahead and look up the stats. There are records you can look at which actually track statistics. Did you know that? His defense last year at MSU was WAY outside the top 15. And his defense this year was ranked in the 80s in total defense headed into this weekend and will fall after giving up 530 yards. Go ahead and look up the actual statistics, rather than inventing things. I'll be waiting.

Take this to the poli board. But since you brought it up it’s a weird hill to die on considering the massive failures of the current administration. There are a lot of people who think DJT is an arse buf should be President.

His overall coaching record is 15-12.

He is garbage.

Tell him take it to poli board but not before you get your point in.

WTF are you talking about? Colorado never went 7-3? It's amazing how people make things up, even with respect to facts that are easily verifiable.

You’re right; it’s just so hard to stay away from such shiny bait.

I understand the skepticism of his overall HC record but I do think he has done a great job this year. I'd of course want him to stay but I get why they'd be interested.

Pros:
Nice turn around this season
Has good SEC experience
NFL experience/connections

Absolutely a valid argument.

I’m fine with Napier, Tucker or Aranda based on the little I’ve seen. I feel a little better about Napier, because he has built it himself - even though it is against weaker competition.

I hope that Woodward is doing a deeper dive into these guys’ performances - evaluating their recruiting processes and their assistants (is one of these guys being propped up by a assistant the way Orgeron was?)

I agree! He is a team first guy, preaching "fight til the end" and "never give up"...sounds like the old school LSU mentality that we need back. Right now it is feast or famine. If we go up big, we keep fighting hard. Go down and we fold like lawn chairs.

Most coaches would be 8-0 if they had a Heisman Trophy caliber running back transfer in before the start of the season. What is Tucker without Kenneth Walker? According to his win/loss record, not a very good coach. Certainly not LSU caliber.

let me know when he beats a real team. Yeah, Michigan is ok but Harbaugh's MO is never winning the big games at michigan. Won't be long before he is fired because of that.

Nope. Harbaugh is 2-12 against top 10 teams. Harbaugh was gonna lose yesterday.

When it is all said and done, Michigan state will have played only 2 teams ranked in the top 25. OSU and Michigan. No points awarded for playing a schedule littered with little sisters of the poor. Reminds me of BSU schedule back when they played one or two ranked teams a year. Same with Clemson, Same with TCU, same with Baylor.

Finally he did something, no other coach at MSU has ever done, beat Michigan in his first two tries.

I will add, against Harbaugh who has a 2-12 record against top 10 teams.

Wrong. Again. Look AT HIS ACTUAL PERFORMANCE over time. He had a bottom ten NFL defense 6 of 7 years as a DC. He was amongst the the worst DCs in Bears history. He never had a winning season as a HC. He was 2-3 as Jags interim, 5-7 at Coloradp, and 2-5 at MSU. At each stop, the defensive rankings DECLINED in his first year as HC. There is literally NO consistent success in his past. Like none. The only success he ever had was under Smart, who was the real DC at UGA. Hiring a coach based on a single outlier year is inanity. Hopefully Woodward is smarter than that.

They are used to having low standards as a measure of success.
