Al had the same issue Bobby Bowden had, he promoted his son to OC and it never worked out.

he can hire guys to recruit. i think he would be a good recruiter, can sell the NFL to them, we would go back to being solid defensively and i do think he would like this job, he wanted to talk about it in 2005 and we pay well for head and assistant coaches.

another positive on del rio is that his staff in jacksonville has lots of college experience that could make a transition smoothe.

i'll say this about al groh
if he can bring in top classes early in his career as an old codger, i have no reason to doubt JDR

NO. AND NO. AND NO. No college coaching experience. He's never recruited one kid. SI.COM is reporting that he would be fired if the owner had the money to spend. He has multiple losing seasons.

he could keep frank wilson, he can hire assistants to recruit, if im not mistaken he has a super bowl ring and can pitch the " i can get you to the league"...he would be ok. I agree with dad, we could have had him in 2005 and i think maybe its shaping up to be that way in 2010, we cant afford to fire miles, del rio is in same position.

Listen, the good years of Al Groh was due to Bill Musgrave (now Falcons QB coach) and Ron Prince (now at Special Teams @ UVA). Musgrave developed Schaub, helped Ron Prince with the offensive play calling, as well as recruited his arse off in PA, NJ, and MD.
Al Groh is a defense-type guy. He runs the 3-4 that develops kids for the NFL but not quite that effective against fast teams. His son was an incompetent OC for years. However, when he left, Groh decided to run a spread which we did not have the damn personnel for. Total moronic move IMO.
Gentlemen, this chic doesn't have any connection to LSU and I'm telling y'all that Groh would be COMPLETELY inept to run an SEC offense. Head coaching job? Helllllllllllllll no.

I figured as much. I couldn't even see him as a damn waterboy at LSU to be quite honest with you.
Jack Del Rio is a great option IMO, as well as Jeff Fisher and even John Fox (although Carolina said all the coaches have the option to return next season).
Seriously though, Crowton needs to go. The short side option play (I don't know how many games I saw that idiotic crap)?! With the talent LSU has...and I mean, just pure athletic talent and skill, there is no excuse whatsoever to have some of the plays he mustered up.

I dunno ATLTiger, he's kinda iffy IMO. Then again, with the recruits that LSU gets year in and year out...the talent that is consistently there...he could work out decently.
