The rant says he can't handle the job because he never recruited, dealt with parents and spoke at boster clubs.

he could just keep frank wilson to recruit. doesnt have a lot of college coaching experience but usually guys transition better from the league to college, not vice versa. i think he would be better than gruden because his systems would be simpler. good defensive guy and i think this is a job he wants since he wanted to interview in 05, but if he gets canned this year would he be available after the 2010 season since we likely wont make a change until then

I saw ol Jack one night in NO at about 1:00 in the morning before a Saints Jacksonville game. I think it was the weekend we beat Alabama in Sabans first year? He was pretty cool but he wouldnt let me look through his binder he was carrying which i assume was his playbook. I asked him if he would come to LSU and he said "not as long as he has a job and we have a coach"

If we were looking for a head coach he'd be at or near the top of my wish list; no guarantee he'd come though. some (not necessarily you) seems to think he's just biding his time in jacksonville waiting for the head coaching job at LSU to open up.

When he was one of the lowest paid coaches in the NFL in 2005, I think he would have left for LSU.

With a more stable situation and a pay raise in 2007 I don't think he would.

Jacksonville in 2009 and 2010(if he makes it that far) is anything but stable from an ownership and job security stand point.

as an alternative what about this coach?

-defensive coordinator under bill parcells with the Giants
-assistant under bill belichick with the Browns
-college coaching experience as both an offensive and defensive coordinator at the college level
-winning record as a head coach in the NFL
