We pay our assistants well. They are both cerebral Cal-Lutheran roommates.

Is it possible that we might keep him longer if we hire Herman over, say Fisher?

I want to keep Aranda. His D is nasty.

How does anybody know they even liked each other?

I don't think it makes much difference. The bottom line is money talks.

No one knows. Maybe he hates Baton Rouge and LSU, and he regrets his decision. He'll have plenty of options.

Lol what would give you any indication this is the case?

Possibly, but most places who would need a DC won't be in a position to win like lsu will be. If he wants to be an HC then it makes sense he would stay here to keep building on his already impressive resume.

Obviously, i dont know aranda personally but usually cerebral types like aranda are driven by a quest for knowlege. I suspect he came here for the money yes but also to see if his system could hold up to the best competition and to match wits with people like kiffen. Saturday was such a delight to watch the cat and mouse between two great coordinators. I'm sure aranda got great satisfaction from that first encounter. My fear is that in his quest to learn more, and with saban playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers, you will see bama make a run at aranda. I personally think the best chance we have to keep him would to hire herman.

I think Alabama has a pretty good defensive coordinator also with Saban looking over his shoulder.

We don't, but I'd like to think Alleva does. Surely, he has conversed with Aranda over potential scenarios and gauged what it would take to make him want to stay.

They were roommates in college. Aranda got him his first coaching job. They talk a lot on the phone about different schemes. LINK

We can only hope they spent a lot of time as roomates dreaming of being an OC/DC combo at a major university.

Alleva: make this dream come true.

Unless he gets a HC job then yes, LSU will match any salary to keep him as a DC
