SP can do without Brees
He’s one win away (and a little help) from being in the playoffs without half of a team including even a backup QB, much less Drew Brees. If they make the playoffs, he legitimately deserves coach of the year. Dennis Allen deserves Assistant of the year, regardless.
You’re out of your mind if you don’t think what’s he’s been able to do with this C-Team is incredible. It’s very difficult to win in the NFL. It’s almost impossible when you’re playing with only a defense and Alvin Kamara.

Why are LSU fans so obsessed with Sean leaving

But IMO the Saints should seriously considering hitting reset and step one of that would be to trade Payton for a boatload of picks.

Trading a coach for draft picks? What?

Are you unaware that this happens?

Has happened a few times over the course of NFL history
Most notably the Pats gave up 2 first round picks, and 4th and a 7th to get Belicheck from the Jets. Jets ended up with 4 first rounders the following draft and still couldn’t figure out a way to stay ahead in that division for the next 20 years and counting
Ironically a few years earlier the pats traded Parcells to the Jets for a 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks over the course of a few different years
Bucs gave up a first to get Jon Gruden, etc

Payton leaving would be dumb. He has autonomy and is treated like an owner.

That’s just dumb!! And dumber talk!

Bring mentioned by many as potential coach of the year for being in the playoff hunt with an offense that would have trouble scoring on some college defenses, and you think Gayle is going to let him go?

that just goes to show what a shithole NOLA is

Payton is not going anywhere. He has an outstanding relationship with Mickey Loomis and Gayle Benson. He will not leave the Saints for money, if he ever decided to move on. He will retire as a Saint when the time comes.
