If we should have learned anything it's that there are no more real insiders. Woodward, BK and Jay Johnson work like thieves in the night. You only hear what they want you to hear, and when they want you to hear it.

Not sure it’s quite that way for coordinators if Kelly already has his guy.
For example Denbrock was the early leader and one of the names most referenced for the OC job and look how that turned out.

Given how things have played out under Woodward, and CBK in particular, there's definitely a chance it's a smokescreen.
That said, Baker and his wife having lots of ties here, he's a candidate where it could leak out and the athletic department have nothing to do with it or be able to stop it.
