He's Catholic, enjoys having his ego stroked and has zero buyout in his contract at Alabama. Why did Saban insist to Sexton that there would not be a buyout???

If Notre Dame throws $7-$8 million per year at him, why wouldn't he go,especially if he wins the BCSCG next month. Saban can recruit anywhere he goes and he'd mop up with the schedule ND plays...including against Pete Carroll.

I'm still not convinced he doesn't give the NFL one more go - he won't want control and he could hook up with someone like Belichick who could retire and handle GM things for a Saban coached team! Kind of like the Parcells deal in Miami.

He would much rather move to Hamburg.

I could see him not going, but It will surprise me if Sexton doesn't get him a raise out of it. Much like he did with the Bears while he was here. Would you want to be the AD at Bama that didn't match ND's offer?

Just wait a few more years. The new ND coach will tank, Nick will be tired of eating corndogs and grits and off he goes.

Maybe the Dolphins gig taught him that his talents as a coach, while considerable, are not unlimited.

And winning at the highest level at Notre Dame, does have its own sets of challenges. Not the same challenges as winning in the NFL but still, he may just not want to take a chance going there when he has things humming so smoothly at Bama.

Or heck, maybe he's just afraid that kids who are on their way to get a degree from Notre Dame won't take him yelling at them as well as kids who may get a degree from Bama.

Tthe same reason Urban Meyer won't go there: can't recruit the types of players they need to have an elite team. And ND isn't going to budge even a little on its admissions standards.

He's not going anywhere. Saban is home. Saban is delusional and he is a misfit just like all of us. The prodical son is home and he's not going anywhere.

I don't know about that...I think it is in the genes for him to keep moving. Don't know how many remember his relative (uncle I think) Coach Lou Saban.

If he wins the NC this year, which I hope he does, won't he be the first HC to win NC at 2 different schools? Well, if he wins it this year, he would be totally challenged to go try to do it at a 3rd school!!! Maybe Penn State when Jo Pa steps down...

I think you are correct (see below), and I think that may make Saban's genes to want to jump to a team like Penn State where he could attempt to win a NC at a third school. Assuming he wins it this year...

*****************
According to Wikipedia:
Bryant coached at the University of Kentucky for eight seasons. Under Bryant, Kentucky made its first bowl appearance (1947) and won its first Southeastern Conference title (1950). The 1950 Kentucky team concluded its season with a victory over Bud Wilkinson's #1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Sugar Bowl. The team finished the season ranked #1 according to the Sagarin Rankings. The living players from the 1950 team were honored during halftime of a game during the 2005 season after the NCAA retroactively recognized the team as co-national champions for that season.

Captured White House documents indicate that Obama is trying to bring a NFL franchise to Afghanistan in an effort to capture the hearts and minds of the Middle East. Bin Laden will renounce terrorism in exchange for a franchise; Saban will coach. Miles to tend camels in the manner of Joe Don Looney.
