Why isn’t Bobby Petrino an OC right now?

He is still a top 20 offensive coach in the game, you could make an argument he’s still top 10. I’d like to see him land somewhere.
If he’s holding out for a top 40 HC job, it’s not going to happen. He may not even be considered for worse jobs. I wonder if HC’s are even considering him as an option and if he’s open to it? Just a couple months ago he said he missed coaching and wants to get back.

I’m not sure I believe he is.
The accident changed him in some kind of way, he didn’t look like he had that edge any more, and on top of that I thought he didn’t evolve with the game very well (though admittedly I didn’t watch a ton of Louisville football)

Two words: Lamar Jackson.

Because he’s a dick who is incredibly hard to work with.

We have a winner. Add to that his scheme has not evolved.

His Louisville offenses looked completely different than his Arkansas offenses. Sure he had Lamar Jackson, but he also designed that offense perfectly to fit Jackson's skillset.

Doubt he plays well with others

I don't think he actually needs to work with the money he made as an HC. Also he's a huge dick who probably has too much pride to be an OC at this point, and no one worth a shite is going to offer him a HC gig ever again. He could get a small time HC easily but again he doesn't need to...

Because no one wants to work with him.

Several things, some already mentioned here. First, he has never loved recruiting and didn't put hardly any effort into it in his 2nd stint at UL. Local HS coaches say he and his staff did virtually no recruiting of local kids, many of whom ended up at places like UK or Purdue. His poor recruiting eventually sank UL when he left the first time and Arky after he was fired. In his last years at UL he hired a lot of coaches of questionable quality who just happened to be family members. (Son, son-in-law, etc.) His father died before his last season, and I think that really hit him. It was like he just didn't care anymore throughout that last season. He's not desperate for a job. UL still owes him a ton of money, so he has no money worries. I wonder if he'll ever coach again.

Yeah I agree with all that but at the same time coordinators don’t typically recruit that much anyway and the head coach is the one who hires staff, still think he could be useful with gameplanning and calling plays. But I can understand not wanting to hire him due to the drama he may cause within the staff.
He’s similar to Chip Long (ironically the same coaching tree) in that it doesn’t matter how good of a coach he is if no one can stand him.

If anything it looked like he changed too much. It didn't start at UL though. In his last year up on the hill he started to shift towards more shot gun/pistol formations with read option looks. He was one of the few "pro" style guys at the time who didn't need to overhaul what he did. It wasn't like he wasn't utilizing the whole field or his offenses weren't explosive
To answer the question. On top of being hard to work with he probably doesn't want to be an OC

Because he’s an arrogant self-serving prick.
