Why is there a narrative that Lane leaving OM for LSU would hurt his image?

It’s just LSU. If it were Bama or Notre Dame, different spin.

Going forward that means the top 12 teams will have off limits coaches going forward. Stupid.

Because it would

Leaving a playoff team without coaching them in the playoffs? Yeah, that would lead to a lot of criticism

Such a stupid narrative. It happens all the time, in all sports, at every level.

This board is blind.

If an LSU coach was doing what lane is doing to Ole Miss we would be rioting. Leaving a playoff team high and dry is a bad look.

I understand the schedule being set up the way it is hurts lane, but let’s at least be a little honest.

If lane wasn’t considering LSU we’d all say this is a scumbag move.

It’s wild that all these people are putting OM on a pedestal.

It’s a program with zero championships in past 70 years. No SEC championships.

It’s a stepping stone program. OM posters can be pissed all they want but it’s the truth. They are not on the same level as the majors, and ESPN can get fricked.

It's the NCAA World we live in currently. Don't hate the players.

This. But as Dave Portnoy put it, LK and LSU are like peanut butter and jelly.

It’s this. It has nothing to do with LSU.

So coaches can only get hired coming off down seasons going forward? Cool. Got it.

it will likely still be pretty rare for a Power 4 coach to leave a playoff team during a playoff season.

The only angle I can sort of see is the fact he sort of holds the perception of that program in the palm of his hands, depending on the decision he makes.

That makes sense of Ole Miss fans feeling some type of way about it.

ESPN? They’re just pushing drama because it’s a television network.

Everyone and their mom knows LSU is the better gig. Even Ole Miss knows it

Can you think of another time a head coach has left his best team ever before the postseason has started?

People will shite on that decision, fair or unfair, right or wrong, it will 100% hurt his image.

We can choose not to care, and so can Lane, but this isn’t controversial.
