Yes, Many at Ole Miss reacted by quitting or transferring. The rest reacted by losing 75% of the games. After he was replaced by Nutt, that same group goes to a bowl right away. Oregeron is an above average recruiter, but his "intensity" never really transferred to W's... whether you want to believe it or not.
Bottom line is this!!!!!!!!!!
Listen up ole Wise one
Nutt has a QB this year...His name is Jevon Sneed
Now coach O got him there...Unfortunately he didn't get the chance to coach him..
Good QB play makes Coaches look like geniuses

LSU fans have always despised a passive defense. O brings an attitude and a swagger that was not there in 08 but was there in 07.

great recruiter and motivator, HOWEVER he better not go anywhere near defensive schemes and gameplanning. He is a terrible X and O kind of guy. His defenses at Ole Miss were atrocious. I also hope he doesn't put us on probation. His recruiting techniques at Ole Miss were questionable at best.

because they are stupid. and its the ole get a good ole boy from Louisiana mentality at work.

As I stated earlier, the DC (Hopefully Chavis or Walker) is the main hire and we need to learn how to be in position and be a smart defensive team more than anything. The swagger comes when you stop people becasue you have ability and don't miss assignments. O could coach DL and recruit, but the DC plans and builds an entire defensive team -- O would be a nice add on and that's it.

quote:Not everyone does; just the kids. He's simply nowhere near as good of a coach as some would like to think he is. His 'attitude' may very well conflict with whomever our new DC is, causing rifts. To top it off, he'd sell his mother to get what he wants - we don't need him nor want him.

Can you give an example during his career where this happened?
You may not like him or want him as a coach, but let's not make stuff up about the man.

yeah, because he has pissed off every DC he's ever worked with.

Caterpillar, Do you even know what goes on with recruiting? LSU, Bama, Tenn U, and the rest are in a $$$$ battle for the top guys. Give me a break. It is all about what my mama wants.

Just curious. Wouldnt we hire Coach O as ONLY the DL coach and recruiting coordinator? Theres no way Miles hires him as the DC...Right?

what is Bebe's OM tenure would lead you to believe this would have mattered? Bebe was awful as a HC, and an epic failure as a DC.

i have no idea, but seems like Les would have to throw more bones than that. afterall, Bebe moving from NO to a position coach at LSU would be a lateral move (and that's a stretch).

pray to the heavens Les doesn't.

O was has never been a d-coordinator except at ole miss. that was his mistake. juggling both coordinating and hc duties is a task vey few can handle so don't judge his failure at ole miss. i don't he should be the dc but his intensity on the sideline and dl coaching skills plus recruiting would make him a homerun hire in my opinion.

Ogeron's offer is D.L, R.C., and asst. head coach. Trying to get close to the money he's receiving now. Saints defensive staff is unstable as changes will be made. Does UT out bid us? that is the question.
He'd be a great addition because every place he's been the defensive line has become a strength of that defense. Miami, u.s.c, and ole miss.
when jerry is drafted in the first round, he will have put a first round, defensive line, draft pick from each school he's coached.
solid reasons to have him on your staff.

you're right, it was. his team D stats from those yr.'s prove he failed as a DC ('05 and '06...'07 wasn't much better w/Thompson). he was awful.

why wouldn't you question his judgement in trying to tackle both? did he want to be so much like Petey? and, why shouldn't one judge his tenure at OM as nothing short of a failure?

as a college DL position coach, his record his solid (The U, USC). his recruiting record at OM, while averaging higher than Cut's last 3 yrs. is open to debate. but there is no doubt he loves that part of the game. i don't know of any LA. kid that he landed that LSU really, really wanted...but maybe there was one, or two.

if you lose peveto you need a great recruiter like O bottom line. And he is a good d line coach.

Sorry about the confusion but i was talking about his failure as a dc. his tenure at ole miss was a disaster.

quote:Its common sense - if you have a DC that doesn't care for assistants getting in players' faces, Oregeron'd personality could cause rifts. Really depends on the DC we get and their approach, because we know Oregeron always takes the 'chew arse' approach ( which regardless what some think, isn't always the best ).

There is NO way that we can get him close to the estimated $500k per year he makes with the Saints and not completely disrupt the pay structure for OC, DC, and other position coaches.
Keep in mind, good chance O will be let go with Gibbs and the majority of the Saints defensive staff next week.
