Jimbo. He's consistently brought in top 5 classes at FSU.

The debate between O and Jimbo should not revolve around recruiting.

To be fair he had a lot of ties and people in his corner working for Houston to pull in Ed Oliver. I think he had a brother playing at Houston and his former HS coach on staff there

It's more than half the equation IMO. Recruiting is not only very important to the program it's vital.

Average success in recruiting means locking down your state. Great success means stealing top players from other states AND locking down your state.

Jimbo has proven to be an elite recruiter as a HC. O has only proven to be an elite recruiter as an asst. (He was not that great at OM)

There is a difference. Herman should be great, but is kinda unknown.

If you have to give an edge to one coach or the other it's going to be Jimbo. Recruiting a top 5 class year in and year out as the HMF (head mother fricker for the elders) is a hell of a lot different than being a good coordinator on the staff. Sure, O may be able to walk into momma's kitchen and convince her son to come play for LSU, but Fisher can walk into momma's kitchen and convince her son to come play for HIM.

Sounds like Nick Saban recruiting.

all 3 would do well at LSU but Jimbo has FL and LA ties and has consistently landed top 5-10 classes, so it has to go to him IMO.

Although O is obviously a recruiting monster.

Jimbo is more likely to get a top QB. Other than that, I think it's a wash as long as both Jimbo and O are winning games.

I have no idea about Herman.

It's part of being a successful head coach. It's why all these yahoos who think O has to be the HC because of recruiting are so wrong. It's not the same. What resume does O have as a HC recruiting? What players has he put in the NFL? Michael Oher is only one i can think of off the top of my head, and he didn't even coach him all 4 years. Fisher has his entire starting offense in the NFL from his national title team. HIS ENTIRE frickING OFFENSE! Let that sink in for a minute.

Jimbo could probably do better with the QB/WR/RBs
Orgeron with DL/OL/LB
Herman - not enough time to know for sure but he seems to do well enough at Houston

Great recruiting isn't the problem LSU has had, finding ways to use the 4 and 5 star guys has been the issue. We need a coach that can be creative and use the athletes properly

ETA all 3 guys will continue to bring in too talent ah LSU

I think everyone agrees that O is a great recruiter, but there is a lot that goes into great classes. Winning games, what type of offense and defense you run, etc.

I've done this before, but here are OM rankings before and after O.

Cutcliffe
2001 - 23
2002 - 23
2003 - 34
2004 - 31
Avg - 27.8

Coach O
2005 - 30
2006 - 17
2007 - 19
Avg - 22

Nutt
2008 - 29
2009 - 19
2010 - 23
2011 - 20
Avg - 22.75

Freeze
2013 - 8
2014 - 15
2015 - 17
2016 - 5
Avg - 11.25

So O recruited a little better than cutcliffe, on par with Nutt, and way worse than Freeze.

You have to consider O was recruiting to a loser and Freeze was recruiting to a winner. I am surprised its not more lopsided considering the talent Freeze has recruited
