I've never been to Waco, but I've seen Ole Miss Sorority Princesses. I think he's good.

I meant based on the path to the playoffs, which may be lower on his list of priorities than coeds. You could be right.

Coeds at Baylor are quite fine in my experience.

Odom. He wants to be an HC and Mack Rhoades has already hired him once

Joey McGuire (current Assistant HC) is who most of the fans (at least the rational ones) and players want.

One other cost for Carolina hiring Matt Rhule: Panthers paid Baylor a $6 million buyout to hire their new head coach, per league sources.

Well he was on something like a 7 year deal that had recently been extended so it shouldn't be surprise there was a big buyout.

A top 10 salary makes that a very desirable job, even though some on this board apparently can’t see that.

Baylor is in a tough spot though, would have had a much easier search had this occurred a month ago.

When has it ever backfired hiring the coach that the players want?

I’m sure that McGuire would be an average hire but the man has only been a college coach for three years. In my opinion, you give him a raise and immediately go hire Billy Napier. Don’t overthink it.

I think if Harrell plays his cards right, he could take over as HMFIC at USC. He saved the HCs job this year.

Napier would clean house so that raise wouldn't do Joey any good. I agree though that our AD shouldn't be swayed by fan or player opinion and I also share the same concern around his lack of experience. He is a Texas HS FB coaching legend but still, the most experience he has coaching in college is as a TE/DE coach. Still, Baylor's in a tough situation here with this happening in January. I can see our AD naming him interim HC and seeing how it plays out before hiring someone after next season.

An entire season interim situation would be bad. Last time we did that we still got a good recruiting class but now with the early signing period that wouldn't work.

Prospects would already be signing by the time Baylor would be naming a coach 11 months from now.

Napier seems like the right fit to keep building the program by finding the right kind of players. He seems like he could effectively continue what Rhule started there.

If they offered him I could see him taking it. It’s in Texas and in a winnable conference. It’s a hell of a lot better career starter than a lower tier SEC job.
