Where does the hubris come from that Texas A&M thinks they are better than mark stoops?

It is pretty weird to see a program that continues to fail think they are a top rate program that deserves some gigantic coaching hire.
It is pretty wild to witness and it is inevitably going to get worse acting like this.

They’re living in their own weird cult world with delusions of grandeur. Reality is they’re rich rednecks with rogue boosters at a program that’s accomplished absolutely nothing.

I mean they’re an institution of compulsive liars and exaggerators it’s catching up to them. They can pretend that they have unlimited money all they want, but in the big scheme of things their athletic department has about as much money as every other major athletic department in the country, and they’ve managed their finances like shite by pretending to be unbreakable.
Couple that with the fact that they’re run by weirdo cult members who can’t negotiate with or relate to normal people outside of their nutbag circle, and you’ve got a program who just got turned down by Mark Stoops and is about to have to settle for their defensive line coach because no one else in the country wants to be involved with their dysfunctional bullshite and they can’t afford to pay another Jimbo-esque contract.
Everyone is seeing exactly why they’re perpetual losers and haven’t won anything relevant since 1939 in real time.

My guess is that it was a money thing as much as anything else. Having to best $9M a year for a guy with a losing record in the SEC? Don’t think the money men could stomach it after paying a $75M buyout.

Well, they fired Jimbo who was a National Championship winning coach in his 50's
so I would assume, ....they want to upgrade from Jimbo given the 150 million they're about to invest...

IMO, the issue was overpaying for a coach vs results. Stoops wasn’t the issue as much as the fact that he would be paid more than Jimbo with zero skins on the wall. I don’t believe we are “better than mark stoops” as much as I hope we’ve learned from past mistakes.

My problem with Stoops is that you have to pay him 9M at least. If he sucks, likely, you cannot get out of it. That is why A&M will gamble on a cheaper newcomer after Fisher

What is their record compared to his in the sec? I’d imagine on par or just slightly better without looking at the numbers

Oh for sure, I’d also guess any LSU fan saying why wouldn’t Aggy hire stoops would have had a nuclear meltdown had we hired him last year.
