Nothing against Dave but, if it’s him, this job isn’t what we thought it was. There’s absolutely no reason LSU should be settling for a second year head coach.

I’m not sure that’s true. There are rumors of Dave to USC and USC is a pretty damn highly ranked job.

I think he is/would be on the short list for every major job out there. He fits the profile of the majority of elite HCs backgrounds.
Long history of success on one side of the ball at multiple places
Elite coordinator at a championship level program
Has success at the power 5 level with marquee wins against a more talented team (vs OU)
The only two things you could want more is longevity or being known as an elite recruiter.

I love Dave but Scott would never hire a coach with as little HC success he has had so far. Not enough skins on the wall for a legacy hire that Scott has to make.

So what did you think when OU promoted Riley or OSU promoted Day? Talent is talent. If you feel you have a shot at a guy on that level, you take it when you have the opportunity.
