In the end LSU will punt and waste another good class... by either promoting Raymond as a fall back or CEO will call the defense and CEO will claim to have the DC in waiting lined up for 2022.

I'd press Odom to leave the Hogs and come down to BR.

No one is worthy of LSU. We ought to close up and revel in our own stupidity. Our fan base really amazes me how the sky is always falling.

You guys are acting like and old lady crossing a major interstate highway at night. We had to try for Nielsen and Freeman. Both had legitimate reasons for not taking the DC position. Glad we are taking our time and not rushing to just put a warm body there to satisfy the masses. O knows how to coach a defense until we get the RIGHT guy.

You guys don't actually think there is no 3rd or 4th option for DC do you? O has this. He hit a homerun with the offensive hires he will find the right DC.

Leonard isn’t even remotely possible, so no point in listing him.

That said, what a fricking sad state of affairs when half the list are a pipe dream. Insecure Ed had one of the best DCs in the nation and he ran him off. What a joke.

anyone made an updated list of DC names since the Saints cock blocked LSU?

Makes me smile to see the butthurt over the Saints blocking the hire.

Y’all have nobody to blame but o for fricking that up.

agree completely. Went for guys we liked and it just didn't happen. One had a better offer based on personal preferences the other got a better offer based on staying where he was at, at the NFL level I might add.

Should we ONLY go for guys that we know for sure would jump on it? Of course not. We were aiming high, and it didn't work out. Nothing wrong with that. Don't stop now. Just adjust your approach accordingly.

this I disagree with.
A) it might be true, but if that's how they would go then why not take a chance on someone else who isn't a current DC?

B) I don't think it's true at all, at least not effectively enough

C) I don't like it when HC's with extensive experience at the coordinator level act as their own coordinators. We're not talking extensive experience as a DC here. A HC has his role. One role Orgeron will likely have here is making sure after Bo that all the defensive coaches are on the same page, all the time. He'll need a degree of separation to do that effectively. I distinctly get the feeling that the defensive position coaches and Pelini were not on the same page. Maybe not even pulling in the same direction. A HC has to monitor, identify, and rectify such things (and has to have and use the "HC Ego" to do it). Combining those roles as HC and DC mires the HC too much in the weeds when it comes to managing people.

Yeah, O ran him right off to a head coaching position.

I’m sure there was friction between them in 2019 with the transition of the offense to up tempo and Aranda taking a more conservative approach in response. However, he wasn’t leaving here for anything less than a head coaching position. If you believe anything else, then it’s because you want to, not because any evidence supports it.
