Gotta love it when people take the time to start a thread, call other people out, and try to prove they are the most important intelligent person in the room........... Only to be 100% wrong.

With cause and without are where it's at

Buyout rarely have the same number both ways.

an open records request by the Tulsa World discovered that Riley has a $4.6 million buyout if he leaves OU for any job, including the NFL, after the 2019 season. The buyout drops by $1 million every year thereafter until March 16, 2022, when OU will waive the buyout.
This was in 2019 but hes signed an extension since then which so far has been impossible to find in full online. I've found older versions but not his current contract.

Can I get a link to this? I've seen it posted twice now
Wondering the same, I can literally only find a Wikipedia reference to it. Sounds like some ra-ra crap he would say for the fans to eat up that's possibly not even true. He's from Texas and went to Tech.

dude before you tell people to keep dreaming (i still dont think Riley would ever come here) you might want to understand how buyouts work.
what you listed is that the school owes him if he is fired. If he leaves on his own for another school or NFL he owes 4.6 million.
What I have learned since this whole thing started is that a shocking number of people dont understand how buyouts work

So you were so sure of yourself that you made the thread. You were called out for being wrong, and now all of a sudden you can't find the contract you made the thread about?
Take your loss, learn from it, and move on.

What are the ties to OU? I heard he's from Texas
He's the head coach.
Stoops is from Youngstown, and played for Iowa, but he still says "we" when he talks about OU. Barry Switzer is from Arkansas, and played for Arkansas, but still says "we" when he talks about OU.
I think this board is overestimating how easy it would be to get Riley to leave.

You're taking this shite entirely too seriously mate. If I was wrong on a message board, I'm pretty sure I'll recover from it.

Never seemed like a realistic option to me anyway. What's the draw for Riley? He's already among the top 3 or 4 highest paid coaches in the country. Oklahoma would match whatever LSU offered. He's already getting into the playoff there and Oklahoma is headed into the SEC. It's entirely lateral
Shhhhh, there's lots of delusion around here and this is entirely too logical!
OU is the 6th most winningest program of all time. LSU is 10 spots lower

So true, makes no sense for Riley unless he just doesn't like OU admin or something.

Michigan is #1. Are you saying that Michigan is a better job than Alabama/LSU/tOSU?
Nebraska, Yale, Harvard, Penn and Princeton are also ahead of LSU.

We’ve won 3 NCs since their last one and he is 0-3 in the CFP
We aren’t a lateral move.

That's good info. It won't be Riley if that is the case.
god damnit

That’s if the school fires him without cause
That’s not his buyout if he leaves for another job

Getting to the playoffs and winning titles are two different things.
He ain’t doing one of those at Choklahoma…juss sayin.

Thread premise reset. I was wrong on the number but we still haven't nailed down what the voluntary termination number is. $4.6 million and dropping down ubtil nothing after 2022 is the most recent we find from 2019. Was likely reupped and reset in his 2020 extension. Can't find that language though.
