If Woodward is indeed “Playing 3D Chess” he had his guy lined up before he fired O and is just waiting until season is over

I swear everyday that goes by Woodward becomes less human and more some kind of omniscient being with perfect knowledge of the future.

Wouldn’t Woodward have to get permission from the coaches current school to contact him? I don’t see how he could have lined a coach up already without it leaking.

I'm pretty convinced that this is the case. It's not really 3D chess, but not announcing a firing until you have a hire in principle with your new guy is a very Woodward thing to do. Keep in mind that this happened after an upset.
And I don't want to make any calls, but I've noticed 2 head coaches that would be coups but aren't untouchable at their jobs that have been suspiciously absent from the rumor mill at large, and that makes me think there's a good chance one of them is the guy. Regardless you can pretty safely assume that nobody who is getting a bunch of articles written about them is actually the guy. Agents throw client names at the media to keep their people fresh in ADs minds, but if you're actively being pursued by a top job you're going to stay quiet because the media circus just distracts you from coaching your current team and you already have your next job lined up.
