Why has the trail gone quiet on him? He was the hottest coaching candidate in the nation like a month ago.

Napier been televised prime time the past couple weeks and both were mostly duds, plus he has ZERO passing game. I admit he was one of my favorites, but those performances hurt imo.

Matt Campbell has Iowa St consistently punching above their weight class. The play tough. Balanced with really good run game, but also slanging 300+ through the air. The team plays tough af. It’s a solid pro style type of team. To me he’s the first choice. No other names even excite me.

The board likes offensive gurus and big name coaches too much. Suggesting a program builder as the next coach never goes well with them.

It's kind of amusing to me how feelings about a hire change weekly based on how their team did that weekend

Not directing this at OP but I remember earlier this season Campbell being a chump that lost to Aranda.

Look at LSU's history of hiring football coaches! Maybe for once we'd like a BIG NAME!!! Not another "prove it" candidate!!!

A 41-13 W over App St is about a big of a win you can have in G5. This makes anything else you say totally incompetent.

Can you imagine the ineptitude it would require to make a program defining decision like determining who will lead it based on something like the win margin in 2 games?? I can promise you that a good AD looks at a much bigger picture than a single game or season when deciding on hires. It’s that type of thinking that leads to flashes in the pan

Matt Campbell has turned down bigger programs than ISU to stay. He may not be interested in moving but I would love to have him.

Great candidate. Checks off most boxes.

But this board has devolved into to camps. The grand slam hire group, mostly a Riley/Tomlin camp. And the high risk high reward group that wants Kiffin or Napier. Campbell is the safe choice, so the trolls don’t really get attention in his threads.

I agree. I’ve always been extremely impressed with his Iowa St teams. For years they have been consistently been play well above expectations. I think he is the best candidate.

Lincoln Riley isn’t even an option. He will never coach here so people can forget about that. Kiffin is a bum and has been everywhere he’s been. Napier was a name that really excited me at first but the past couple games we’ve seen in prime time spots have been duds, with an almost non existent passing game. I don’t think LSU will go back to a no passing game team.

To me Campbell is the best choice

I didn't give him much thought because I keep keep hearing on ESPNU radio that he has this huge contract but if you look it up its not bad at all. He makes 4 million a year and unlike most contracts that have a buyout his doesn't reduce over time. But it also isn't something crazy. If he leaves anytime between now and 2028 he will owe just a one time 4 million dollar payment.
